Your HarbourCats are now 37-13, after yet another win on the road tonight.

Details of the upcoming home games are below...

See you are the park this weekend!

★ It spans (at least) SIX DAYS starting this Friday for the HarbourCats - and it means the biggest, most important run in HarbourCats baseball history.
Here's what we have:

★ Friday, August 5th - 6:35pm - Odlum Brown presents "Jerseys Off Our Backs" - every fan can enter to win a game-worn authentic HarbourCats jersey - the super great RED ones, and all the jersey give-aways are at the end of this game

★ Saturday, August 6th - 6:35pm - Fan appreciation FIREWORKS, presented by Wallace Driving School! - get your tickets early for this one

★ Sunday, August 7th - 1pm - Fan Appreciation plus FREE hot dog for each child, thanks to Maple Leaf Foods

As we mentioned, all three games Fr/Sa/Su are vs. the Pippins, the current overall South Division leaders, and a team we could potentially meet in the post-season.

Then it's the PLAYOFFS. In the WCL, the league champion needs to win just 2 best-of-three series. So that's pretty quick, you do not want to miss it.

The first HOME playoff game here will be ★ Wednesday, August 10th at 6:35pm against another North Division opponent - still to be determined.

Tickets for ALL the games listed above are available through the HarbourCats office or website. The office is on Vancouver Street near Caledonia for in-person purchases, or tickets are online now athttp://harbourcats.com/tickets/

I don't know what's going on in RAP right now but all I can hear is booing, chants of "throw him out," and a huge ruckus. Anyone able to fill me in?

Added to tonight, skydivers will make a moon-lit jump to the filed in the later innings of the game.

Hmm. Moonlit might not be possible tonight.

Know it all.

OK, pitch black then.  Like me on D-Day at Normandy.

Barring that, they'll come in during the fireworks, which might be very entertaining.

They did it.

40 wins vs. just 14 loses.

They are getting 802 more fans per game than in the opening season.  That can translate into about $225,000 more gate revenue.

This is a story from Kitsap (Bremerton).

As income for the team dwindled, the ownership group had less money to spend on marketing the team.

The Jackets have been the lone blue-collar franchise in the WCL. Acker said all of the other teams have a budget between $400,000 and $600,000. Meanwhile, Kitsap spent less than $200,000 in 2016.

Acker said he has paid for various promotions to increase attendance such as fireworks, but they have resulted in a wash.

"What we've found in Kitsap is that if you spend money, more people will come, but you'll make what you spend — you won't profit," Acker said.

That team is moving to Port Angeles.

Is something going on at RAP this evening? There's a lot of noise that seems to be coming from that direction.

Nitro Circus started at 6 pm.

It's noisier than Rifflandia, which itself was louder this year than last.

Edit: I see that it's the sort of trailer park, white trash event (http://nitrocircus.com/about/) I avoid like the plague. I guess that's why I was not aware that it was happening. Hopefully it doesn't run too late.

It's like bringing Western Speedway into downtown!  Blah, it's only 7:19, I'm sure it'll be over by 9.

All 2017 season tickets purchased before November 7 will receive free playoff tickets for the 2017 off-season. The offer is contingent on the team qualifying for the playoffs, which the club did in 2016, which was also their fourth consecutive season with an increased win total over the previous year.

Season ticket holders would retain their same seat(s) for playoffs.

“The organization has taken a lot of steps forward in the past three seasons, and we won’t change the end goal -- to bring Victoria a championship, and the first step is to make the playoffs,” said Managing Partner Jim Swanson. “We got to the dance last year, and we have more to accomplish. We think people have seen our commitment to excellence in all facets of the HarbourCats organization, and we’re proud to have this community behind us.”

“We will work hard to return to the playoffs next summer. This free-tickets for playoffs approach is something we wanted to offer as yet another perk to being a season-ticket holder, and in particular those who have been supporters from the beginning. Those are the people who have become our friends, who we know on a first-name basis, and who have enjoyed the journey so far.”

A season ticket guarantees your seat to every game, including all of the most popular games including but not limited to Opening Day and fireworks nights.

The HarbourCats tied a WCL home wins record in 2016, going 23-4 while playing before an average of 2,239 fans per game at Royal Athletic Park.  Attendance has risen each of the HarbourCats’ four seasons resulting in Victoria placing ninth in North America for per-game attendance among summer-collegiate teams.

Historic Royal Athletic Park, which has undergone various improvements since the HarbourCats began play in 2013, has played host to many of the largest crowds in league history including the all-time mark of 5,133 who watched the HarbourCats clinch their first-ever playoff berth on June 30, 2016. More ballpark improvements are under consideration for the 2017 season, with announcements at a later date.
