I can see why they hosed off the firefighters after the Fernwood fire, since smoke engulfed a Fernwood neighbourhood home after an Esquimalt industrial fire. I suspect it was the firefighters.
Know it all.

Man presumed dead, woman in hospital after incident on Nanaimo sailboat
April 12, 2022
A 58-year-old woman is in hospital and a 59-year-old man is missing and presumed drowned after witnesses called police about an argument on a sailboat near Nanaimo, B.C.
Mounties were called at approximately 8:40 p.m. Monday after the couple were heard arguing aboard the vessel anchored between Newcastle Island and Protection Island, east of downtown Nanaimo.
Mounties responded aboard a Nanaimo Port Authority vessel and found the woman adrift in the harbour clutching a rope near the boat.
"She was getting ready to go under," said Nanaimo RCMP Const. Gary O'Brien, adding the woman appeared to be suffering from hypothermia and severe intoxication.
The 59-year-old man is still missing after an exhaustive search of the water and shoreline, including unsuccessful attempts to ping his cellphone.
Police are still looking for the man but are "sadly working on the presumption that he may have drowned," O'Brien said.

FRIDAY HARBOR, Wash. (AP) — The Town of Friday Harbor on San Juan Island said Thursday that a fire that burned through a block of businesses last week was intentionally set.
City officials said the fire that started early on April 7 originated from a deck behind Crystal Seas Kayaking and was determined to be arson, KING-TV reported.
Officials said the cause was determined by a team from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives. The regional ATF and the San Juan County Sheriff’s Office are searching for suspects.
Four businesses — Herb’s Tavern, Crows Nest Coffee Shoppe, Crystal Seas Kayaks and Windermere Real Estate — were destroyed. Officials say the response by emergency crews kept the damage from being worse. No injuries were reported.
