Pebbles have been spread on the roof in non-patio area. Maybe part of rain catchment system?

The tar and gravel is quite common and is used to stop the wear and tear when you walk on it, as well as not sticking to it on a hot day.

Hey, black and orange are the colors of my alma mater, Caltech. An excellent choice for my new home (but entirely accidental).

It seems increasingly unlikely that the additional 5 floors this building desperately needs will get added on.

The colours are very Halloween.

That's because it's scary how tall this building is. It towers over everything, like a towering monster.

Seriously though, I like those coloured panels. Now if only somebody would dare to use a really funky colour on some other project around town. Neon green or pink or something. I like this effect a lot. When it's new and/or clean, anyway. I'm not kidding about Concert's Tapestry building. Give me some neon green panels on part of it and that might be just enough to give an otherwise conventional design a bit of distinction.

Model at Escher Presentation Centre shows developer's intent for burnt orange/ dark gray colour scheme from start of project. SW corner of building in foreground.

Can someone near the construction site confirm whether the crane is coming down today? There's a large mobile crane in the vicinity of the construction site but my view of Escher's crane is blocked.

As long as they don't follow the trend of artistically-named buildings being only 10 floors, I welcome a Picasso or Matisse, but perhaps not a Van Gogh since I am not sure we'd want to see part of one side of it chopped off.
