...and this is unfortunate...but the key moment is clear...the takeover of the progressive conservatives by the western reform movement. since that date there has been a steady erosion in the "progressive" aspects of conservatism...and has pushed many people away...
peter mckay where are you?

Agreed and among many of my friends.
We all took a shower and walked away when the party became a lot more like the 2nd world, christian republican theocracy to the south. The Canadian conservative party's worst strategic mistake was signing on for republican resources: we can see how that's playing out. The final straw for my conservative group was Harper's adoption of the republican playbook, including marginalizing any science that made christian's uncomfortable. I'm a believer who believe's the church belongs nowhere in the state: no-one tells me what I believe, especially the government. Not to mention handouts to industry - also not conservatism.

What science did Harper marginalize that made Christians uncomfortable? This is the first I’ve heard of something like that.
Environmental mostly so I don't agree it was about Christianity but more likely oil: https://www.vice.com...s-and-documents

(just took the first 3 results for "Harper destroy science" on Google but none of this stuff is hard to find if you don't trust/like any of those sites)
edit: the books actually being burnt is probably fake

Tough to undress a pickle.
Whats is a pickle.
You can take a pickle, cut it up, dice it up, make a relish. Serve it with hot dogs, serve it with hamburgers, you can do alot of things with pickle.
Never will it end up being a super hero.
In the end, its still a pickle!

And the leader of the Quebec Greens, Alex Tyrrell, has already thrown his hat into the ring. He wants to see the federal Green Party become more eco-socialist.
