What new groups are being added to the "not allowed to take part" list this year?

NYC Pride parade has no gay men on the list of grand marshals.

NYC Pride has unveiled the grand marshals for this year’s NYC Pride March, one of the largest annual Pride parades in the world.

The march, which will take place on Sunday, June 26, in Manhattan, will feature five grand marshals: social media star Ts Madison; transgender former NCAA swimmer Schuyler Bailar; ACLU attorney Chase Strangio; “Saturday Night Live” cast member Punkie Johnson; and Okra Project Executive Director Dominique Morgan.

But don’t worry MLB, you’ve got a new team that’s apparently warriors for Christ that’s limiting the appeal of your game!

On Saturday, the Rays tried to boost their Pride Night by having rainbow patches on their jerseys and hats. Five players removed them, citing their religious beliefs, which as George Carlin has told us is always the last place to turn for someone with no answers and no ideas but needs a shield from rightly being called a bigot. They’re under the impression it’s a get-out-of-being-thought-hateful card.

Jason Adam was apparently chosen to be the spokesman for the Rays Block of Hate, trying to mealy mouth his way to threading a needle that doesn’t exist that makes it OK to hate gays without feeling like you hate gays. Adam tried to claim that he doesn’t look down on the LGBTQ+ community and that they’re still welcome, but of course he wouldn’t do the actual thing that would make it seem like those two things were true. All while parading out the usual drivel that’s around “hate the sin but love the sinner” horseshit.

Premier Heather Stefanson will not be invited to participate in future Winnipeg Pride events after she didn't walk in the parade Sunday, which the organizer's president says insulted an entire community.

After former Manitoba premier Brian Pallister spoke at a Pride rally without participating in the parade 2019, Pride organizers implemented a policy that any leaders invited to speak must also walk in the parade.

After multiple meetings with her staff, it was determined that the new premier could speak before the parade, which she did.

Victoria drag show cancelled after venue receives shooting threat

Jun. 16, 2022

An all-ages drag show set to take place in Victoria this weekend has been cancelled after the venue hosting it received multiple harassing phone calls and one threatening gun violence.

The Sashay Cafe drag show was scheduled to be held at Caffe Fantastico Saturday in the lead-up to Victoria Pride Week.

But in recent days, Caffe Fantastico employees were subject to harassing phone calls, including a serious threat made on June 15.

“One caller escalated, actually threatening that someone should shoot up the place and everyone in it,” the café said in a statement. “We reported this threat right away to police. The threat understandably was very upsetting to our staff and the organizers and scheduled performers for the event.”

“It stems from ignorance, it stems from a lack of information and it stems from misunderstanding,” said Britton Kohn, president of the Victoria Pride Society.

A police report has been filed, and organizers said they made the decision to cancel the show out of concern for performers’ safety.

“It is very disappointing to learn of these deeply concerning calls and the impact that they have had on staff, event organizers, and those who were looking forward to this event,” said Staff Sgt. Jennifer Ames, who is also the co-chair of the Greater Victoria Police Diversity Advisory Committee.

Caffe Fantastico owner Ryan Taylor said in a statement the business has hosted this event for the past three years and has not had any incidents like this happen before.

The threats come as lawmakers in Texas push to introduce legislation to ban minors from drag shows, the latest in a wave of anti-gay and anti-transgender legislation coming out of the state in recent months.

Organizers of the Victoria show say that the support shown to them after being threatened with violence has been a “silver lining.”

Of course the Mayor has now reacted. I am not suggesting that the idiot who made the call shouldn't be called out but with everything going on in town related to crime, vandalism, open drug use, etc, I find it incredible that the Mayor choses to only react to this incident.

VICTORIA, BC — Today Mayor Lisa Helps issued the following statement on threats made against the 2SLGBTQ+ community:

“In June, Canadians from coast to coast to coast come together to celebrate Pride month. Here in Victoria we do the same. After two years of not being able to gather in person for Pride events and the annual parade, Victorians are keen to come together again to celebrate. Today at City Hall we raised the Pride flag to mark the beginning of Pride week in the City of Victoria.

“Over the past few days, a local coffee shop with deep roots in the community that was to host a family-friendly drag show this weekend was targeted with hateful and homophobic phone calls and threats of violence to people planning to attend the event. The event was cancelled as a result.

“These threats of violence have no place in our community. Pride month is about celebrating love and the right we all have in a free country like Canada for everyone to love whom they choose, to express their gender how they choose and to feel safe in all places and spaces to do so.

“Pride month is about celebrating and honouring diversity, celebrating inclusion, and making space in our community for love in all its forms. That is what makes us strong as a community. In these uncertain times, we need to come together as a community, not tear each other apart.

“To all 2SLGBTQ+ members of Victoria’s community, and all our allies, know that you are loved, and that love will always prevail over fear, hate, and anger. Happy Pride.”

Of course our Mayor defends the groomers.  There is nothing "family friendly" about drag shows.

Increasingly, liberal parents have attempted to normalize the trans practice by taking their own children to drag clubs. Highlighting what really goes on at these establishments, Demure insists that this is never a good idea.

"What in the h*** has a drag queen ever done to make you have so much respect for them, and admire them so much, other than put on makeup and jump on the floor and writhe around and do sexual things on stage?" Demure asked in the video, which has been viewed over 300,000 times.

“I have absolutely no idea why you would want that to influence your child. Would you want a stripper or a **rnstar to influence your child?”

Kitty went on to warn that drag performances are only suitable for the eyes of legal age adults. “There is a lot of filth that goes on, a lot of sexual stuff that goes on, and backstage there's a lot of nudity, sex, and drugs," he added. “To actually get them involved in drag is extremely, extremely irresponsible.”

Addressing parents personally, Demure insisted that looking “woke” was not worth putting children at risk.

“I understand that you might want to look like you’re with it, that you’re cool and woke … but you can raise your child to be just a normal everyday child without including them in gay sexual things,” he implored.

At the end of the day, drag shows are modern day minstrel shows, female blackface.  Where men dress as hyper sexualized cartoon versions of women and dance around for the vulgar amusement of the crowd.  And if adults like that, that's OK.

It should not be for kids.

^ I think that if a business wants to have a legal activity that is up to them. The person who called shouldn't have threatened staff.

I was only referring to the Mayor's PR. Where is the PR asking people to not torch vehicles, that happened yesterday as well?!

...Pride month is about celebrating and honouring diversity, celebrating inclusion...

Unless you are a police officer in uniform of course.

Why did Helps and Potts paint beards and moustaches no their face for the pride flag raising at City Hall, all dressed up to look like butch lesbians?

This was in the past hour or two.

When VW made the note above about "modern day minstrel shows", he had no idea just how accurate and timely that observation really was.

Helps is an embarrassment. Also on the Global News when Sophie Louie read out all the flags hanging at Victoria City Hall, I lost track after about six.

Geez, Lisa looked cute in her trim jeans and with hair on her face.  Stephen was fabulous in the feather boa.  It’s never too early to acquaint children with the varieties of sexual expression.  What Victoria really needs is more family friendly drag shows.  Ask anyone.

Helps is gay, we all get that, and don't care ... but dime-store-drag is an utterly ridiculous way for the Mayor of a Provincial Capital city to present herself to the public (along with her equally idiotic dime-store-drag-cohort, Potts).

Supposed to have some sort of deep meaning, but just comes across as a couple of dummies looking for some cheap-n-easy publicity.

Of course the Mayor has now reacted.

Stephen Andrew has also issued a statement.

VICTORIA, BC – Stephen Andrew, Victoria City Councillor and candidate for mayor, issues the following statement following the cancellation of a planned pride event in Victoria this weekend: “Pride is a celebration. It’s a time to celebrate all that we in the LGBTQ2+ community has accomplished over so many years of struggle. It’s a time to come together and join our friends, families, and community in the spirit of resilience, empathy, and determination. “Pride is also a protest. It’s a reminder that, despite coming as far as we have, there is still so much left to do to educate and combat intolerance, discrimination, and hate in our community. “A planned family drag event was cancelled because of threats of violence to the LGBTQ2+ community. This reminds us that we must not be complacent about the work that is still ahead of us. We must come together in support, nurture the spirit of the queer community, and lift them up. “As a gay man I stand for LGBTQ2+ rights, I stand proudly with my friends in the queer community, I will always stand up against discrimination, and I will always stand for inclusion, acceptance, and equality. “Let’s come together as one community to show community pride. Reach out to those who are affected by this hateful act, make sure we show them they are supported, and let’s show Victoria is a strong, kind and loving community.

Let’s make this clear.

A “drag” event today is not just men dressed as ladies. It’s men dressed up and in makeup portraying an overtly sexualised characature of a woman. It’s like burlesque, except it’s men dressed in the sexy outfits, not women.

Very few would suggest we expose children of all ages to female burlesque dancers or strippers.

Likewise, drag shows of this type should not be directed at an “all ages” audience.

It’s poor parenting. And introducing kids to overtly sexual situations well before we should.

A “family drag event” as its referred to above is ridiculous.
