The market will figure it out.

I’m guessing the amount of owners without home charging is very small.

In fairness it is not just Tesla. As BC Hydro has started allowing others to charge for electricity the rates have skyrocketed with most charging providers.

That’s rare though, right? People that regularly drive long distances likely don’t buy electric cars.

Home charging is great as long as you don't plan to drive more than 150-200 km away!

how many days a year are you 200 km away from home?

how many days a year are is the average driver 200 km away from home?

11 times per year.

Look, I don’t know. Those that go to Nanaimo lots have two cars or more. Leave the electric at home.

Ev's have a rated range like ICE cars. That range varies depending on temperature, terrain, and driving conditions. Most electric vehicles recommend that you charge to only 80 or 90% of the rated range. Unless you live in Langford and are travelling to the south end, I don't know of too many people who would risk a return trip to Nanaimo without recharging.

hmmm...tommy went to port renfrew and back yesterday (same km as nanaimo), started at slightly under a full charge (trip to the airport and back) and had 168 km range left when he got home

and the recommendation to charge 80-90% as a daily thing, does not exclude topping off to 100% if you know you have a long drive ahead

at 100% charge in january my ID4 had a 400km range, this week a full charge reads at 420km

i have been to nanaimo and back, no problem, although the ride up the malahat does take the range down a bit, the ride down the other side makes it up through regenerative braking

I've been to Naniamo and back many times without any charging and I have a 7 year old Tesla with the smallest available battery at the time. The current cheapest Tesla available would have almost 100km more range than mine.

I also have free supercharging for life :)

It would really suck if you bought a Tesla thinking that you were going to save money vs gas!

Harsimran Bansal, the Tesla owner got charged CA$24.20 for a 21-minute Supercharging session. He also said that this cost is comparable to filling up gas in an ICE car.

We don't care about cost, we're saving the planet.

U.S. electric vehicle manufacturer Tesla Inc (TSLA.O) has stopped taking orders for its upcoming Cybertruck pickup truck outside of North America, according to its official website.

The automaker is only taking reservations for the Cybertruck in the United States, Canada and Mexico, the website showed.

Tesla declined to comment on the matter.

____________

"We have more orders of the first Cybertrucks than we could possibly fulfil for three years after the start of production," Musk said last week at the FT Future of the Car 2022 conference.

He also said Tesla could stop taking orders as demand for some of its vehicles exceeds production "to a ridiculous degree".
