So anyways, guy living further south than 98.9% of Canada, complains he’s too far north for his EV.

Clown world.

But 98.9% of the cars in Canada are operated in warmer climates than his.

I think that’s Ontario logic, and those guys think northern Ontario is way south of the rest of the Canadian border.

What do they call the actual north of Ontario? The Arctic?

1/2 of all Canadians live roughly inside this red line here.  Which is quite something.

The MG4 line-up will expand in the future, too. An Extended Range model is predicted to offer more than 320 miles from a full charge, and there will even be a performance version with 0-60mph time of less than four seconds.

A New Tesla Model 3 For As Little As $27,000? It's Possible In Oregon

You may be able to get a similar price in some other states that offer compelling incentives on top of the US federal EV tax credit.

https://insideevs.co...gon-incentives/

But it’s not just the Model 3. The Ford Mustang Mach-E, which has an MSRP of $45,995, could be acquired for $29,495-$30,895 with Oregon’s incentives. The Chevrolet Bolt EV, which is an affordable electric car to begin with, could see its price drop to as low as $10,000-$11,400 in the state, and the Nissan Leaf, the veteran EV from Japan, could be acquired for as low as $11,540-$12,940. These prices, of course, assume that a car buyer meets the state’s criteria to qualify for the available tax credits and incentives.

What is Tesla’s Master Plan 3 announced by Elon Musk?

The electric vehicle manufacturer is expected to provide updates on its Full Self-Driving technology and a possible cut-price $25,000 model.

https://en.as.com/la...by-elon-musk-n/

Back in 2006 Elon Musk published a blog article on the Tesla website, entitled ‘The Secret Tesla Motors Master Plan (just between you and me)’. In it he outlined the company’s “long term plan” and promised to introduce “affordably priced family cars” to compliment Tesla’s single offering at the time, the Tesla Roadster.

Musk said he wanted to build out the company range, which he did with a series of other models in the following years. He also outlined plans to provide charging options that would allow drivers to ‘re-fill’ with solar panels.

The second instalment of the Master Plan – Part Deux – was announced in 2016. This expanded the firm’s offering into trucks and buses, and focused on energy generation practices as well as car manufacturing.

Canoo (NASDAQ: GOEV) has announced that it will sell 50 million shares of its common stock to investment group Alliance Global Partners.

Like many other EV startups, Canoo has consistently faced issues with financing. In mid-2022, the company was even looking down the barrel of bankruptcy, and without last-minute orders of thousands of vehicles, the company would not be here today. Now, as the American startup looks to produce its first EV offering, the Lifestyle Vehicle, it has announced it will sell 50 million shares of its common stock to cover costs.

https://www.teslarat...tion-ramp-2023/

Along with these mounting production costs, Canoo has an ever-growing list of customer orders. Foremost has to be the order of 4,500 vans from Walmart, which kept Canoo afloat mid-last year. Still, the automaker also has orders from fleet rental agency Zeeba (3,000 vans) and construction vehicle rental service KingBee (9,300 vans).

Canoo marks the third major deal signed by Walmart for electric vans. Early this year, Walmart reserved 5,000 electric vans from General Motors subsidiary BrightDrop. It also bought 1,100 electric vans from Ford E-Transit, some of which it is already operating.

The big-box retailer plans to use electric vans from all three companies for InHome and other local deliveries. It intends to increase the availability of InHome from 6 million to 30 million households by the end of this year, as it adds major metros like Los Angeles and Chicago.

Walmart is making a big bet on customers’ desire for increased convenience, announcing Wednesday that its InHome delivery service will expand availability from 6 million to 30 million households, including in cities such as in Los Angeles and Chicago, by the end of this year.

InHome allows Walmart employees wearing cameras to enter a customer’s home to deliver groceries and other purchases or to pick up returns, even when the customer is not there.

“Now you’ve got this ultimate convenience where you get home, the refrigerator is restocked and other items like video games, clothing, toiletries and other nonperishables are on the countertop,” said Tom Ward, senior vice president of last-mile delivery at Walmart, in an interview. “We will also pick up your return if you start that process on the app; we will grab the item the next day and will process that return for you.”

https://www.cnbc.com...lion-homes.html

Walmart said it will hire 3,000 employees to support its InHome expansion, giving them real-world and virtual reality training. They will be paid about 9% more than Walmart’s average wage of $16.40 an hour. The company’s 3,700 stores will be used as fulfillment centers and InHome delivery drivers will operate electric vehicles as part of the company’s goal of a zero emissions logistics fleet by 2040.

“They’ll also deliver Walmart packages, they’ll deliver Walmart GoLocal client packages, and they’ll do InHome delivery. It’s making the best of all these assets that we’re putting together in a way that’s really sustainable,” Ward said.

The truck was revealed in the company's 60-second Super Bowl spot, which also marks the opening of reservations before the truck goes on sale next year. Stellantis says that interested customers can pay a refundable one-time fee of $100 to join "Rev Insider+" on RamRev.com, which opens up the ability to reserve a truck.

In the past, the brand has claimed to be aiming for segment-leading figures in range, payload, towing capacity, and charge times. Stellantis should reveal more over the coming year, ahead of production that the ad claims will start in "late 2024."

100% EV passenger car sales by 2035. Yeah. For sure, guys. No problem.

Ford has halted F150 Lightning production due to a “battery issue.” It hasn't identified a restart timeline. Could the abysmal range in winter conditions have something to do with it?

New car sales right?  The range has improved quite a bit in the last 10 years, I'm sure it'll improve more in the next 12.  Having said that, my Winnipeg counterpart is saying EV will go the way of the do-do bird in cold climates, they are going to LNG.

If we think back to 2011, life hasn’t changed much.

The feds think we will completely transform transportation, shift transportation energy and satisfy energy supply for a 100% electrification of the passenger vehicle fleet.

And don’t forget the stepped up quotas along the way.

I don't recall how many EVs there were in 2011...  I think I put the first City EV chargers into the parkades like 10 years ago, maybe 11...  Very little use initially that got pretty busy until we added a fee to use.
