Note how tiny the numbers are today and how massive they will be in just a few years. That’s nonsensical.
60 million EVs produced… in 17 years.

EV sales will soar to about 73 million units in 2040, up from around 2 million in 2020, according to forecasts by Goldman Sachs Research. The percentage of EVs in worldwide car sales, meanwhile, is expected to rise to 61% from 2% during that span. The share of EV sales is anticipated to be well over 80% in many developed countries.

BMW Mazda and Tesla are no longer putting AM radios in their electric vehicles, apparently the electric motors interfere with the radios. Unfortunately, the police and other agencies rely on the AM for emergency messaging.

If they can average 12,000 cars per week through the end of the quarter it'll be a new China record.

While Canadian politicians have been heaping praise this week on Volkswagen’s decision to open a battery plant in Ontario, they’ve remained oddly quiet about the likely billions of taxpayer money needed to convince the German carmaker to open its newest factory under the Maple Leaf.
“Canada had to be part of the equation, but I’m not going to go into the details,” was the closest trade minister François-Philippe Champagne came during a Monday CTV interview to admitting that federal subsidies played a part in luring Volkswagen to Ontario.
Twice, host Vassy Kapelos asked Champagne if he had to “cut (Volkswagen) a cheque” to secure the plant. The minister replied only that the figure was “commercially sensitive” and would be released “in due course.”

Top Gear:
On the face of it, the MG4 doesn’t seem like a very exciting car - certainly not something Top Gear would give a massively high score to. But when you dig into what it does for the money, how high it scores on multiple levels, it’s probably the only car in the class to recommend. It’s got range, charging, equipment, zippy dynamics and now some style.

Chinese electrics are coming. They have over a dozen very big manufacturers.

Many dealers were already unhappy with Ford’s new rules. More than 30 state dealer associations have registered opposition to Model E, which also requires a change in vehicle sales practices. The automaker wants dealers to set no-haggle prices and offer remote pickup/delivery of vehicles for service. Dozens of dealers in North Carolina have filed a petition challenging Ford on the program. As Automotive News notes, it’s essentially a lawsuit since the state’s DMV commissioner is the legal authority on the issue.
Model E is part of Ford’s push to increase quality and improve its customer service model. The automaker has struggled with both, which presents significant challenges in its catch-up efforts with Tesla on EV sales. Ford sold more than 61,000 EVs last year, but it has a long way to go to reach Tesla, which holds around 65 percent of the EV market here.

Volkswagen unveils a new budget electric vehicle, ID. 2all, with front-wheel drive and a range of up to 450 kilometers (280 miles). The model will be priced under 25,000 euros ($26,300) when it hits the European market in 2025. VW plans to increase its competitiveness in key market China, where it has fallen behind US rival Tesla and local manufacturers of electric cars.

The entrepreneur, however, is unlikely to be worried that Tesla’s planned lower-cost car will be bested by the affordable ID2—at least not yet.
