In January, plug-in electric car sales in Europe increased by roughly 25% year-over-year, which is a positive sign considering that some incentives were reduced or cut.

According to EV Volumes data shared by researcher Jose Pontes, 198,993 new plug-in electric cars were registered in Europe in January. The market share amounted to roughly 20% (compared to 17% a year ago).

FSD is perhaps Musk’s greatest scam yet.

The IIHS just rated 14 vehicles with auto-driving tech. Tesla’s was the worst among them all, and they all suck. Could you imagine having been suckered into buying FSD? Or worse yet, a CyBerTRucK with FSD, lol! Man oh man…

Tesla's Full Self-Driving (Beta) Version 2023.7.10 had the worst rating overall. Its system was rated as poor in six categories and acceptable in the other two. Tesla Autopilot was only marginally better, receiving a good score for lane changing instead of poor.

From the article:

IIHS President David Harkey said that while the results are "worrying," all the tested systems did well in at least one category, which "means the fixes are readily available and, in some cases, may be accomplished with nothing more than a simple software update."

It’s all software, right?

And maybe it’s not that simple, otherwise it would have been fixed years ago. FSD has been around, for what is it now, six years? Seven? Still failing.

I've had my Y now for a couple of months and it is an amazing car/suv for 45k (after rebates). On the whole it is better than my 2016 Model S that I paid 110k for in 2016. It isn't shocking that it is the best selling car in the world.

Would I rather the Macan EV? Of course, but not at more than double the price, lol. That is nuts. I would pay maybe 80k for the Macan EV.

I probably go a good 6 months without seeing one of two other cars in Victoria that match mine.  I kinda like it that way...

Over 300 Tesla Cybertrucks spotted during Giga Texas flyover

https://www.teslarat...-texas-flyover/

YouTube video:  https://youtu.be/LJ2...5pRPsT0V62y409Y

Tesla has so far adopted a fairly conservative estimate for the Cybertruck’s production this year. As per Tesla’s Q4 and FY 2023 Update Letter, Giga Texas currently has an estimated annual capacity to produce over 125,000 Cybertrucks annually. That translates to less than 2,500 Cybertrucks per week, or roughly 343 units per day if the facility operates on a seven-day workweek. Considering the Tesla watcher’s recent flyover, the EV maker may be taking some steps towards achieving Giga Texas’ listed production run rate of 125,000 Cybertrucks per year.

Possible affordable Chinese EVs tariffs have popular automaker boss begging EU for U-turn

A popular automaker has called on the EU to make a decision that he thinks would benefit the average driver when it comes to automotive costs and quality.

European Chinese EV imports currently receive a 10 percent tariff, while European EV exports to China receive a 15 percent tariff.

However, several German automakers, like Mercedes-Benz, rely on China for significant sales.

Mercedes sells more than a third of its cars in China, and Volkswagen is even higher, with the country accounting for 40 per cent of its sales in 2023, according to the Financial Times.

German auto executives also fear backlash against Western products from China in response to higher tariffs.

BYD and other China-owned EV makers like MG have also recently launched more affordable electric cars in Britain priced at around £25,000 — around £15,000 less than an entry-level Model 3, Tesla’s least-expensive vehicle.

Tesla CEO Elon Musk has made new comments about the upcoming next-gen roadster and went as far as saying that it’s “not even really a car.”

Last month, Musk gave a rare update about the next-gen Tesla Roadster.

The prototype for the next-generation was first unveiled in 2017 and it was supposed to come to production in 2020, but it was delayed every year since then.

In his update, the CEO said that a new prototype should be unveiled at the end of this year, and Tesla plans to bring the vehicle to production in 2025.

Musk also doubled down on the plan to make it a partnership with SpaceX as he previously said that the vehicle would be equipped with cold air thrusters to make it faster.
