Changing blinds from steel to white, perhaps acceptable. Changing blinds from steel to Lynyrd Skynryd Confederate beach blanket, not acceptable.

But there's really no reason to change blinds. They should last 10 to 20 years before the cords break and then you just get them restrung for cheap.

maybe birdhouse is getting smart remote blinds.

or she is the owner of the Monty’s girls girls girls sign and needs a lower profile design so that sign fits between the window and blinds.

You got it - smart / motorized blinds are what I'm looking at. :)

Make sure they are hardwired in otherwise you go through a ton of batteries.

The crane might be coming down here this coming week as Cook Street (near the building) will be closed on August 12...

Snap a pic

I'd like to, but I don't have my phone with me, and even if I did there are quite a number of buildings between me and the Wade that would obscure any images of the crane. I based my statement above on the fact that a mobile crane seems to be operating in the general vicinity of the Wade site.

I think the crane is coming down now.

It's funny that this would be happening today, as I purposely went by there yesterday evening to check. There were no indications that anything was imminent.

Yup, Cook is closed between Johnson and Pandora for crane dismantling. Johnson is also down to a single lane a block up the road for the project at Chambers.

It’s a real pleasant day for vehicle traffic in the area.

TBH.. crane removal is not all that exciting. Anyways for the crane removal fans, here you go.

The last two pics are from a couple days ago. The quality finishes is evident, although I’m a bit surprised the old building has new panelling on it, vs. trying to keep a more original mid-century vibe. Still looks great, although I fear that white panelling will be a tag target. The bullet and pellet gun riddled balconies will only improve in the event of shooting events however.

It turned out beautifully. I can’t wait to see what the interior finishings are like.

The Swallows Landing buildings are not two of the most highly sought condominiums on the re-sale market for nothing.

Now over to Westbay Quay where the same developers will bring so much life to the western edge of the harbour.

The Wade will be unique for being the first new construction to achieve heritage status upon completion.

Nparker, where can I find more information on The Wade achieving heritage status?

A long time in the making, but The Wade is definitely one of the CoV's most sophisticated and sleek looking low-rise projects in recent years.

What are the plans to finish off the "moat" at the ground level of this facade?

ps: I actually love the "pockmarked" balcony fronts.

re. the moat, add water and alligators. Would be ideal to also be able to raise the bridge.

Every post you’ve made since joining this forum has been to trash condo living. Why even bother joining a community like this just to do that?

I think this is a bit of a jab at how long it's taken to build :)
