I find it a bit sad that the government has to spend a ton of money in advertising telling us to celebrate.

Also interesting that that they have a non-Canadian as the headline singer in Ottawa celebrations.

Im in Skagway right now and every business and most homes are decorated for the upcoming 4th of July thing meanwhile in Whitehorse 2 hours north of here there is nothing except a big tent on the waterfront where some music events and other stuff will take place. The US is far more visually patriotic than Canada.

On a side note The RCMP musical ride will be performing here in Skagway on Aug 14  after 2 performances in Whitehorse on the 12th and 13th ...didnt know they preformed outside of Canada..if I am here on that date Ill probably attend

I noticed quite a few flags flying in the Fairfield neighbourhood. We have one too....plus a Canada Flag pinwheel. :)

150 years. And TC decides not to publish a special edition today? Instead they don't publish at all?

They had 50 years to prepare something special and gather up advertisers.

Tune in to VV's Facebook page at around 10PM tonight when we'll start streaming live in preparation for the 10:15PM fireworks. Our vantage point is about 130' above the streets with a clear view of the harbour.

My point is they skipped it today.  Are you going to keep your June 30/17 paper as a 150 keepsake?  It's got the wrong date on it.    The Vancouver and national papers are huge today.

The Vancouver Sun will publish over the holiday weekend on both Saturday and Monday.

Watch for extensive Canada 150 coverage in Saturday’s Sun, including the colourful story of British Columbia’s entry into Confederation from columnist Stephen Hume.

The National Post will be publishing a Canada Day print edition on July 1.

Even though I am a Centennial Baby, as far as I know my parents made no effort to keep any newspapers from 1967. 6 months from now no one's going to give a rat's patootie about Canada's sesquicentennial. If I can be cryogenically preserved, perhaps I'll celebrate our Bicentennial in 2067.

Oh, I agree.  But you make the special edition to sell newspapers and advertising today, not for any use 6 months down the road.

The Phatfunks were performing at Victoria Golf Club this afternoon, they were very good.

They had a girl singing who was fabulous.

They are high school/Uvic kids.

Life's a journey......so roll down the window and enjoy the breeze.

There was definitely a "colonialism 150" crowd downtown today. Funny, 90+% of them were white. Saw many other aboriginals who seemed to be having a good time.

Nice night in Parksville. Everyone is getting set for the fireworks.

This beach area appears to be an idiot free zone.
