BCF can't even run an all-you-can-eat buffet (with no competition), not sure they can handle the flat fee thing.   :1954_dancing:

Yeah, that’s a weird idea. I wonder if that will result in the province giving BCF more or less than the $200M they currently pay BCF to provide services.

There should be an annual property tax associated to BC Ferries on every property serviced by the system.

That's not a bad idea.   Although you might argue nobody ever has to leave the (Vancouver) Island.

In that case, let's remove VI from my taxation plan.

I've already said let's let the small islands decide for themselves how they want to pay for and run the service, fares or fees or a combination.

They need to go back under moti like the inland ferries are. They are just an extension of the highway.

They need to bring back a few more even hour sailings. One sailing every two hours just doesn’t cut it any more.

Seems oddly busy doesn’t it? I thought everyone was broke and struggling.

The fleet is still down the Queen of New Westminster from the propeller incident. I don't think there are any spare vessels that can augment at busier times.

Camping style tourism has exploded in recent years. There are so many campers and RVs coming across regularly now that we didn’t see before. It’s an all year thing, too.

who goes camping or RVing around here in October and November?

do you have any news stories or facts to back up this claim that camping style tourism has exploded into an all year thing

nothing sure beats huddling around the campfire at 4 degrees and its pouring rain like it does here

You’re a contractor in Victoria and you’re worried about rain in winter?

You’d be surprised how many people are out there at this time of the year. The backcountry is full of people, this is when it’s best, IMO. There are campgrounds full of RVs, too.

I much prefer a campfire in November, than sitting around a flashlight in July (campfires are banned here in summer), and there are no mosquitos or other bugs. And if rain bothers you, you’re on the wrong coast, son!

Personally, my immediate family we don't, but thats because we tend to get so much camping in from May to September that we are 'camped out' for fall and winter. My extended family tends to do a decent amount of fall and winter camping though on the mainland.

so we weren't talking about me, we were talking about campers and RVs.  as for me in the summer I love my huge propane fire pit on my deck

if I had an RV, I would he headed to Vancouver on the ferry and onto the I-5 to points south.  that's me thou

as for being a contractor, I don't work in the rain, I sit in an office, nice, dry and warm with a huge window to look out
