Between this building and the church land sale, this area is going to change in a huge way. From the church's perspective, this is a good thing - the existing buildings are probably not meeting their needs anymore, and also showing their age... and if we're gonna have growth in Langford, that's where it should be happening.

The sale of 1/3 of the current church property will pay for all of the homes along Peatt rd that they purchased.
The 10 or so homes along Peatt rd will be removed.
The plans are for construction of the new Church to begin in Autumn 2017. When new church is occupied old Church and Gym and St Vincent de Paul will be torn down to make way for another tall residential building .
Langford Rocks.
Little crime , no beggars on the streets, no hassle building permits, 1 time payment for business licenses a great place for families. People from all over the CRD and the Island come to Langford everyday , we know why. Good Job Stew...you and your council should teach other mayors and councils how you do it so that others can follow your lead.
Rendering of new Church... approx location is where the current gravel parking lot is across from liquor store.

Without that, it'd be a mini View Towers...
Come on. There's a lot of variation there in addition to the one-third/two-thirds thing (which is nothing to sneeze at unto itself... a lot of designs don't even bother to do that much). The ground floor units are distinctive, the top level is set back, and the glassier units on the left side are set back from one another (not flush). I'd say it would be a great building for the west comms and pretty much anywhere else, too. View towers is what it is because the ground floor is terrible and the levels look exactly the same from top to bottom.

That's... actually pretty good. I like it. Sure beats that godawful old folks home next to Westshore Mall that's like a shitty house writ large.

The buildings in teh background of that picture are also going to be sold and teh Our Lady of the Rosary Church,Gymnasium,Rectory and ST Vincent de Paul building are on a lot that is to be sold. The church is selling it off but keeping all of the remaining of their property which runs down Peatt road .They own all of teh homes along Peat Road right up to the newest townhouse. a new church will be built and the entrance will be off Peatt rd. Look for a large condo to be built on teh property facing Goldstream from the Cloth Castle to Peat Rd
This is what will be sold to a developer approx. in white
Church owns all of this property in red and new church and church hall will be built here
There's a big sign up for the public hearing on this land before they've finished the first floor of Danbrook One

Dozens of rental units to come online this year
Units will help ease housing crunch on the West Shore

Dozens of new rental units will come on the market later this year to help ease the pressure on Greater Victoria’s housing crunch.
DB Services’ Danbrook One Tower, an 11-storey, 90-unit development on Claude Road in Langford’s downtown core, is well on its way to completion.
“We’ve poured the fourth floor slab now and we’re progressing at a floor every two weeks now,” said Matthew McKay, co-owner and development manager with DB Services.
The rental tower at 2762 and 2768 Claude Rd., includes a mixture of one-, two- and three-bedroom units, as well as one-bedroom plus den units. The top floor includes six penthouses with two and three bedrooms. There will also be one level of underground parking, and amenities in the area include a dog park, and a grocery store and Starbucks in the nearby plaza.
McKay anticipates the project will be complete by the winter, with tenants moving in around December 2018 or January 2019.

I drove past this yesterday and they have the exterior up to about 4 or 5 installed. Nice change from all the river rock and hardiplank.
