You never know what you’ll find last year bought a genuine leather whip left a mark on me as the previous owner mentioned he had brought it in bed with him and had almost resulted in a divorce.

“Tips for BUYERS going to Garage Sales

Don't be an Early Bird. 9:00 does not mean 8:30

Respect sellers property , stick to the driveway or sidewalk if possible

Carry small bills and change, don't expect the seller to always have change

Do not make insulting comments about items on sale, you are effectively insulting the seller

It's OK to bargain but be reasonable - often your best bet is to buy multiple items enticing the seller to give you a break

Be mindful when parking and driving - small congested streets can be dangerous

Don't ask for holds - if you want a larger item and need to come back for it prepay and give seller your contact info

Be courteous to your fellow "salers" say "please" and "thank you"

Most importantly have FUN!”

The mayor says the heritage designation wouldn't have such a detrimental effect.

"At worst it would delay ... by two or three weeks as an additional process went on," he said.

Wait, did the mayor just clearly state that the only effect this whole process would have is to delay the project?  That's amazing.

The administrative office area is in particular need of an update.

Some of the desks date back to 1960 and the kiosk workstations have not been updated since 1983

Oak Bay Municipal Hall: "We are ashamed of our Municipal Hall's original 1960s furnishings".

I’ve always thought that, stepping into Oak Bay Municipality Hall is like stepping into a 1960s office, kind of neat. Maybe not the best impression. Is 1960 ancient nowadays?

As someone born in the 1960s I'd have to say yes.  ;)

Love time warps some people have them in their home and don’t even realize. Grandparents lived in one house for 50 years it was perfectly preserved from the time they built it unfortunately the new owners remodelled it.

You can’t be fully transparent without a glass desk.

“Debt a near certainty as Oak Bay faces infrastructure shortfall“

“..report finds even if the district increases reserve contributions to sustainable levels starting in 2022, debt would still be required between 2026 and 2069. At current funding levels, the district would need to borrow $855 million and incur an interest expense of approximately $395 million to fund infrastructure replacement…”:
