That was Shaw's equipment.

The design Townline created for their podium is pretty neat. It's quite the departure from what Victorians are used to.

Longtime VV'ers might remember that about a decade ago Westbank (The Falls, Shutters, Parc Residences) had a proposal to build an office building on the gym adjacent to the church on Douglas at Broughton. The gym is called Kirk Hall.

Now, since Westbank developed both Telus Sky and Garden, perhaps they'll be involved with whatever Telus does here, and the church may still be game to redevelop Kirk Hall. Ok mainstream media, there's your bone, now go get the full details for us!

I almost don't want to see it now that it won't happen

As per the article, it still might. Townline has some other prospects in mind.

At some point, these major trunk lines need to be upgraded and/or replaced. Stuff (particularly endpoint) wears out. Newer routers, newer switches etc will be needed.I suppose they may need more or less space, or a better or more modern data centre/switch board. It doesn't need to stay as legacy hardware. Telus likely has a roadmap for doing all that, and a new building could be part of that plan.

In the meantime, I could see them doing as ASE suggested - perhaps moving the people first, and the gear later or piece by piece as upgrading is done etc.

I could see them shooting more for a smaller version of Vancouver's new Telus Garden, rather than that Calgary tower. http://westbankcorp....g?itok=A4s4496E

Exactly.

Plus, long term, wouldn't it make sense to have this hardware located in less expensive real estate in Saanich or something?

Location is important. Tech companies like to locate data centers near major ISPs for a reason. Not that we have many data centers here.

Tells also has space in that big Government building you see off Blanshard (looks like a hospital). Have a ton of servers in the basement there.

^ Really? I am not so sure that Telus has space in the Seymour Building... There are servers in there though.

Did a security stint there. Night shift had this sole Tells employee in the basement I had to check on every two hours because they worked alone. She changed tapes and drives on servers that recorded Telus Customer Service all.

This call WILL be recorded for quality assurance, not might be..

...Who the hell is Tells?

If I had to guess, I would say that "Tells" is the auto-correct version of the telecommunications company.

There aren't many private float planes coming into the inner harbour.

Last week and this morning C-FASA was docking at the wharf under the Regency. Telus is the owner.

Interesting that they own a seaplane. A colleague of mine recently had some conversations with a local Telus VP. He spoke of wanting this new headquarters to be something that you would definitely "stand out" when arriving on a seaplane. I thought it interesting that he specifically spoke of the seaplane arrival...this kind of ties that beau nicely for me.

Being bound and gagged is just a regular part of the CoV approvals process, no?
