2nd degree murder trial in 2023 killing of Cook St Village senior

Michael George King, 44, is pleading not guilty to killing a senior in his building.

Screenshot 2025-05-12 22.05.35.png

Michael Jones

March 6, 2023, a neighbour found Michael Jones, 70, in his Cook St Village unit covered in blood, w/stab wounds to his face, neck & head. 9 days later, Jones died.

King is pleading not guilty. Defence says a search of his unit was unlawful, speculation by VicPD that King was the perp, and therefore there is no basis in granting a warrant.

Crown says there was evidence to support the search of King’s unit & no requirement for police to believe he committed the offence.

Screenshot 2025-05-12 22.03.45.png

A neighbour alleged King & Jones had been “feuding", King staring oddly into Jones’ room the day of the incident, also heard King knock on Jones’ unit, then go back to his apt. The neighbour then found Jones in a pool of blood.

Same day, King turned himself in @ SaanichPD, saying he felt insane, believed he was the devil, saying “I’m not sure what I’m capable of.”

Judge will decide on the warrant’s validity Tues a.m.

Willis in 2012 (CBC)

Treyvonne Willis, convicted in 2015 of a contracted murder in Winnipeg, filed the petition against Mountain & William Head prisons, operated by Correctional Service Canada.

Willis is asking to be returned to WHI. He was transferred to Mountain after the incident.

The manager is ID'd as C.M. A source says she was escorted from WHI after the incident.

“Willis (said) the hug wasn't romantic, that the C.M. had hugged others @ WHI. He was uncomfortable & felt that he had to do what she asked since she was in authority.'”

Officer witnessed "Willis kissing the staff member on the lips & a 2nd quick kiss. This room is only accessible by staff that hold a key. Lights were off & it was nighttime.”

Witnesses say three teens were arrested on Belleville.

Great kids. 15 years old, still can’t calculate the area of a square but already assaulting innocent people.

A couple of days ago the Mrs. and I stood watch over a teen who was nearly swarmed by a group of teen bullies. The kids were scared off, and left. We waited with the one kid for his bus to show up. He told us kids use metal studded “gauntlet” gloves (as they call them) to assault other kids nowadays. Look those up online. Vic High is pumping out some great members of society, by the sounds of it.
