One of our very own moderators was randomly assaulted waking out of his office onto the street.

I missed the part where a fellow V.V. forum poster getting assaulted was grist for comedy?

This council seems intent on creating conditions that allow crime to proliferate.  They seem intent to not manage situations that are risky in ways that minimize the risk.  It's neglectful and harmful.

It’s hard to believe that there is nothing we can do about it. Huge flaw to our system.

do anything about what? making comedy from VV moderator attacks?

Not the first time that there has been a feeling of dismay at callous humour on this site.

The typo and the phrasing were the grist for comedy.

2 stabbings in downtown tonight. One of the victims is in serious condition. 2 fires - one sounding like it was intentionally set. Yep, let’s abolish the police 🙄

Two separate stabbing incidents?

Yes sir. One at centennial square -
One at the corner of pembroke and Douglas I believe

Sounds like it could be the same person committing the offence in both locations

Here we go:

🚔Downtown Victoria stabbing incidents, at Centennial Square and along 2000-block of Douglas Street, send two victims to hospital🚔

Victoria, BC – Detectives with VicPD’s Major Crimes Unit are investigating after two men were injured in assaults with weapons that followed a confrontation in Centennial Square last night. One of the victims received life-threatening injuries.

At 9:15 p.m. on August 9th, Patrol officers were called to the intersection of Government and Fisgard Streets for a report that someone had been injured in a stabbing following a confrontation in Centennial Square. Patrol officers attended and provided medical aid to a man suffering non-life-threatening injuries. The man was transported to hospital by BC Emergency Health Services paramedics.

Five minutes later, at 9:20 p.m., Patrol officers were called to the scene of a second reported stabbing in the 2000-block of Douglas Street, related to the original confrontation. Patrol officers attended and provided medical aid to a man suffering life-threatening injuries. The man was transported to hospital by BC Emergency Health Services paramedics.

Both men remain in hospital.

These two incidents are believed to be related. Both remain under investigation. At this time, investigators do not believe there is a risk to the wider public.

If you have information about these incidents and have not yet spoken to police, please call (250) 995-7654, extension 1. To report what you know anonymously, please call Greater Victoria Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.

🚔Mount Tolmie Hospital Hit with Multiple Break-Ins🚔

From Saanich Police:

Saanich Police are investigating several break and enters to the Mount Tolmie Hospital on Richmond Road that started over the long week-end in August. It is believed that the suspects returned during the week and then again this past week-end, all the time making their entries overnight. Tools and electronics have been reported stolen as well as general damage to the building.

The hospital is not currently occupied and additional security measures have been recommended.

“Our Forensic Identification Section through the Detective Division is assisting in this investigation. It is very unusual that a premise would be the target of repeated property offences. Anyone with information is urged to contact the Saanich Police Department or anonymously through the Greater Victoria Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.”

Know it all.

Unfortunately, the worst of the bunglers are on Victoria city council - although I do agree they should probably be in jail.
