We are dying of boredom these days. Any winter COVID safe activities that you can suggest? HELPPPP

Since this is posted in the crime thread, can I assume you are not looking just for legal activities?

Why do people need so much stuff? Less can be so much more!

Maybe condos could set up a community library where residents could borrow camping gear, tools.  Perhaps even share their winter tires!

There are solutions for all of that stuff. Tire shops will hold on to your winter tires, if you want. And camping gear can be stored in a kitchen cabinet, too.

Do winter tires make up the remaining source of energy generation for BC's electricity?

California’s highways will generate electricity from cars driving over them

California will harvest freeways for electricity.

Are you able to throw on some all-seasons to negate the change out?

Why would I want to do that?  I've had all-weather tires.  Proper summer/winter tires is much nicer.

That might be the beginning of a new concept in responsible urban living.  Value Village could add a few rooms and lend out stuff to the residents.  Everything you need.  There would have to be a few stipulations, like washing the towels and underwear before returning them to the library….Oh wait, we already have Our Place, except for the washing part.

It seems like a real hassle to have to change them out, and store four tires in a condo.

So if say you are not planning to drive for the day, someone can jack up your car and borrow the tires for the day? Tires and rims? Or just tires?

Don’t we have to wait for a crime to occur first, before we can get this back on topic? It could be a long wait. Or we might be back on topic shortly.

I bought a set of used wheels to mount the winter tires on.  They'll pay for themselves in three seasonal changes with not having to deal with the tire shop.  Not to mention the hassle of leaving the car there and everything that goes with that.

Realistically though, it's not just about tires.  We're rapidly approaching 'Humans of Wall-E' lifestyle where people aren't expected to have much space to have a life at home these days.

Discussing how developers are complicit* in aiding criminals by building literal honeypots of goods for thieves to rummage through is perfectly on topic.

Craigslist house rental scam lures Langford woman

October 15, 2021

scam.png

Taija Bennett has been spending most of her time recently looking for an apartment for her and her seven-year-old son.

“So I have been given a two-month eviction notice as of the beginning of September so I’ve been frantically trying to find a place to live.”

Last week, she found what she thought was the perfect rental apartment on Craigslist: a furnished one bedroom, plus den, located in Langford near her work for $1,800 a month.

“I was speaking to someone on Thursday evening, last Thursday evening, and the gentleman was very nice,” Bennett explained. “It was a real rental suite and correct ad.”

“I believed everything was legitimate though I was tricked. Very tricked.”

Turns out the landlord and the rental agreement were all fake.
