Looks like the City is going to face additional litigation over Beacon Hill Park.  Those that wish to help the Friends of Beacon Hill Park Society in their efforts in pursuing this litigation can do so at the following link: https://www.gofundme...BniExuwh6zMBNI=

Not sure if local media will cover this (the mayor has probably told the Times Colonist they're not allowed to, LOL). But if they do, I look forward to the mayor's response. Or are they all vacationing while the city steadily devolves into chaos?

I wouldn't mind if all members of the CoV council chose to vacation from now until October 2022.

Tune in to CFAX at 9AM this morning for breaking news regarding an incident involving a municipal employee.

The tide is turning, quickly, against the current administration.

Interesting. Stirling seems to be really digging and doing the type of actual journalism we see too rarely here.

Thus equating him to Hitler.
Meanwhile, the Capital Daily which had taken a refreshingly balanced approach to reporting on the homeless situation in Victoria has drank the coolaid, with the main journalist claiming in the podcast yesterday that BHP tent areas are clean and tidy and that they are all lovely people building a community for themselves and that the underlying problem im is housing.

Might want to check to see if the CoV has started advertising with the Capital Daily.

The Trudeau way. Buy the media with taxpayer money. So easy and makes life a lot easier for the politicians too.

Before we jump to conclusions, what's the annual average for city worker stabbings? What's the ideal number?

If and when the authorities later claim the park needs remediation, the various media outlets will dutifully present it as truth and conveniently forget everything from the day before. We've already seen this script play out re: the courthouse tent city. It was one notch better than the Garden of Eden for a while, and then one notch worse than hell by the end of it.

Short memories and flexible beliefs are the key ingredients for sustaining these self-contradicting political narratives.

Stirling made is very easy for media this morning via Twitter:

Free #yyj media tip: search file number 180343 on the http://justice.gov.bc.ca court records search for Victoria Law Courts appearances and find a scheduled appearance August 26th for counts of Assault, Breach of Probation Order, and Breach of Release Order. Look at the name.

The name is the same as the individual Stirling has spoken about on numerous times that resides in the park, who it appears published the video.

1 count of assault, breach of probation and breach of a release order (I don't know if it is the same "Shea Smith" as the one in the park).  Court appearance on Aug 19th but it resulted in a "SBP".  The person is to appear again on Aug 26 with a reason of "APW".  Does this mean the person was a no show on the 19th or something else?

  • APW - Application for Warrant - Used as the next appearance reason when an application for a warrant is made after the non appearance of the accused is noted.
  • SBP - Scheduled (Prosecutor)  - Used when an accused is scheduled by a Judicial Case Manager to another appearance as requested by the Prosecutor.

Is assault one of the "survival based crimes" that the CoV wants to make legal?

You'd think the folks at UVic, or whoever runs the camp, would've found a better candidate to be the friendly face of the campers. Back in my day they would've just got a UVic employee to do it. ;)

And now the crime statistics are in, and they are bewildering compared to the relatively simple times of 2016, which by all accounts were already a train wreck following the 2014 election.

Who would have thought we'd ever think of Lisa Helps' first term as mayor as the "good old days"?  :whyme:
