It’s not even about being noisy, just the din of conversation, sometimes animated, sometimes high-pitched, sometimes intrusive, and that can weigh on you after a while. And the higher you go in an adjacent building, the more of it you tend to hear.

This is where we might want to remember that a) a marina was always part of the Songhees concept, long before those condo buildings had been built, and b) the walkway was never a no-talking zone, and c) the balconies of the condo building itself are not no-talking zones.

I personally wouldn't want to dine so close to all those condo balconies with their occupants leering down at me. I doubt this restaurant will last long. /s

For sure. Who would want to eat dinner on a restaurant patio while some stranger is eating dinner on his balcony a short distance away?

most people I know in that condo get rowdy after a few bottles of wine.

Had dinner the other night with a couple who ate at B&B six times and from their comments it was bad and overpriced four of those times. From their descriptions it sounded like they have a revolving door of minimum-wage cooks rather than an actual chef.

Seems ok to me. My mom and I have lunch there all the time.

What I can say is the offerings changed style after the COVID thing, so some menu items are presented differently.

I was there a couple weekends ago and overall found it good. A few odd presentation choices that harmed the dish, such as serving the pizza on a stone platter, which caused the bottom of the crust to steam up and get all soggy...

Those grilled carrots though, wow were they delicious!

Second the grilled carrots suggestion. Best carrots I’ve ever had. Boom and Batten has been consistently a hit for me. I’ve probably gone about 40 times and never been let down. It’s a good date spot.

Also, best happy hour in town.

same date (person) or 40 different ones?

i'm sure there is also a joke to be had here - in combination with the above.

I think it may have hit its peak. Whoever was last in the kitchen when we were there must be new, because everything we ordered was a real departure from what it had once been.

Very nice staff, though.

Boom & Batten's best feature always has been and likely always will be its location.

I went by the marina on Sunday, it looked like the marina was full. One very large sailboat also tied up.

The schooner? It made some news I think. Largest privately owned schooner or something.

Yeah, it is very large and expensive looking. Australia or New Zealand flagged, I believe.
