I guess people are naturally curious what the tech folk are up to. It's probably most meaningful for the kids or young adults trying to find their way in life.

I think that many people are attracted to who they perceive are successful people and are hoping that emulating that behavior will make them successful as well.

If I recall correctly from his videos Wilkinson says it’s about “being in the right room”(paying a lot of money to see a TED conference was an example of the right room with the right people)

Haven’t seen too much info that you wouldn’t learn from a grade 12 entrepreneurship class. But keep an open mind. I think most want more money

Self-help 'gurus' have been around forever, it is just the medium that changes. 30 years ago it was Tony Robbins seminars, 20 years ago it was real estate DVDs and courses and today it is social media. You don't need to know what you are talking about, the trick is to have charisma, look the part and to talk a good story. If you actually dig into the backgrounds of a lot of today's success influencers you will find that they are exaggerated and in many cases folks haven't really accomplished anything and just regurgitate what others have been saying forever. Heck you can probably even have ChatGPT do your blogs and social media for you!

This is the Crapital Daily thread, not the A&W thread.

Good morning,

This morning we published an article that described that the West Shore School District was returning to remote learning due to bus driver shortages. This information was incorrect as it pertained to a school district in Pennsylvania. Local schools will still be attending classes.

I apologize for the misinformation, and should have been more attentive to the proper district and editing of this information. Our team apologizes for any inconvenience, confusion, frustration, and misinformation that has been caused as this was a complete oversight on our part.

Kind regards,
Emma

^ that’s part of the erroneous story. So a publication that specializes in the West Shore typed out the names of those schools without realizing they do not exist here.

Relying a bit to much on Google alerts set to west shore. Then screwing it up worse from there.

I wonder if it's also a case of using AI tools instead of humans to write the newsletter

It’s not called the West Shore School District of course, either.

That would make sense, but AI would have snuffed out the incorrect use of “it’s,” I think.

Stuff happens. But we can see how having a thorough awareness of local place names and familiarly with a city really matters.

Although it is rare I think you can use it’s for “it has” provided it is followed immediately by a verb (in this case, “created”).
