Good morning,

This morning we published an article that described that the West Shore School District was returning to remote learning due to bus driver shortages. This information was incorrect as it pertained to a school district in Pennsylvania. Local schools will still be attending classes.

I apologize for the misinformation, and should have been more attentive to the proper district and editing of this information. Our team apologizes for any inconvenience, confusion, frustration, and misinformation that has been caused as this was a complete oversight on our part.

Kind regards,
Emma

Tried looking up Emma on the CD staff page and no dice. I wonder if this person even lives on the Island.

Maybe she lives in Pennsylvania?

I wonder how their unionization is coming along.

Was it published in “The Westshore” or “Capital Daily”? I expect better out of this forum

First time ever going to “The Westshore” site, so obviously this publicity stunt is working

Tech holding company Tiny Ltd. says it’s buying a majority stake in movie review platform Letterboxd.

Victoria, B.C.-based Tiny has not shared what it will pay for the 60 per cent stake it will take in the film diary and rating website.

Letterboxd co-founder Michael Buchanan says the deal secures the platform’s future as an independently run company, while taking advantage of Tiny’s experience helping founders through growth periods.

They are independently run even though they are owned by a VC?!

I'm interested in hearing about which communities don't deserve equity, and why.

All communities deserve equity, some communities just deserve more equity than others.

Trust me, you don’t want to be deserving. Have you forgotten your double speak filter?

“Our neighbourhood streets are not thoroughfares for cut-through traffic,” Murdock says. “They are places where kids play street hockey and folks take walks and meet their neighbours.”

The target streets:

Tillicum, Lansdowne Panhandle, Lochside, Tolmie, Brookleigh, Burnside, Tattersall, Carey, Gordon Head, Glanford, Blenkinsop/Maplewood, Cedar Hill, Columbine, and Interurban.

^ wtf.

Here is the proper story:

The list of Saanich streets where speed limits are expected to be set at 30 km/h includes the Tillicum neighbourhood, the Lansdowne panhandle, Lochside Drive, Tolmie Avenue, Brookleigh Road, Burnside Road East and West, Tattersall Drive, Carey Road, Gordon Head Road, Glanford Avenue, Blenkinsop/Maplewood Road, Cedar Hill Road, Columbine Way and Interurban Road.

I don't know.  30kmh all along Cedar Hill Road, and all of Interurban?

Have never seen a kid playing hockey on Interurban, in fact I don't think that any houses directly enter/exit off of that street.

So is BC Transit expected to double the number of buses and drivers they have in order to service streets where the speed limit has been cut in half or do we just get less frequent service?

This is a rhetorical question - right?

Some of these seem like poor choices. Others are ok but 40 would be a better balance IMO.

But people are going to go 60 regardless.
