Health officials discovered 159 new cases of COVID-19 in the Vancouver Island region over the weekend, according to the latest data from the BC Centre for Disease Control.

The new cases were among 1,052 cases identified in British Columbia since Friday, according to the BCCDC.

The nasal coronavirus vaccine will help curb the spread of the infection through developing a sterile immunity in people, meaning they will no longer infect others, Alexander Gintsburg, director of the Gamaleya National Research Center for Epidemiology and Microbiology, the vaccine developer, said on Monday.
 
"People who will receive an intranasal vaccine will develop sterile immunity. <…> It means that a vaccinated person will not be a carrier of the disease. Now, we cannot guarantee that a vaccinated person will not transmit the virus to other unvaccinated people after breathing in COVID-19 agents and having them accumulated on his or her glands and in the nasal pharynx," he said in an interview with the Rossiya-24 television channel.
 
"When we additionally use a nasal vaccine, we will create an extra barrier for COVID-19 at the entrance gate level," he added.

A Siberian region of Russia has become the first in the country to impose self-isolation rules for residents who haven’t yet been vaccinated against Covid-19.

Authorities in the Khanty-Mansi autonomous region launched an online form for the unvaccinated to apply for “recommended time outside.”

Aaron Rodgers lied about his vaccine status and overcame a Covid-19 infection earlier this month, but the Green Bay Packers quarterback is now dealing with a mysterious toe injury.
 
On his Monday morning SiriusXM Radio show, Howard Stern lashed out at Rodgers for seeking Covid counsel from polarizing podcaster Joe Rogan and questioned whether the quarterback chose medical professionals for advise on his toe.

They believe that for some students to initially process their reactions to the results that one option was to provide groups of similar backgrounds in this case based on race given that was a major issue in the case for many..
They included some critical information errors about the facts of the case in their release of this voluntary attendance option. i see that misinformation as the major error.

People wanting to seek support and comfort from their own peer group often based on race, religion or country/culture of their origin is a long standing historical reality. Once you feel more secure you are ready to reach out integrate, and feel safer within the wider society.

Especially in the USA but also in Canada being a person of colour or immigrant has often experienced a much different view of how welcome they are. When you feel safe and confident and welcome you are much more ready and able to participate in emotionally charged discussions  and feel you and your opinions will be heard and that you are a valued member of the whole society.

Historically, both the USA and Germany have engendered negative experiences by stigmatising parts of the population for their skin colour or religion. I call on high-level officials and scientists to stop the inappropriate stigmatisation of unvaccinated people, who include our patients, colleagues, and other fellow citizens, and to put extra effort into bringing society together.

Especially in the USA but also in Canada being a person of colour or immigrant has often experienced a much different view of how welcome they are. When you feel safe and confident and welcome you are much more ready and able to participate in emotionally charged discussions  and feel you and your opinions will be heard and that you are a valued member of the whole society.

 

I too am an immigrant, and I understand how social networks comprised of ethnic groups are important. But those networks support people of a certain ethnicity, not base don their appearance.

A quarter of B.C. children aged five to 11 have registered for the new COVID-19 vaccine expected to roll out for youngsters starting next Monday.

B.C. Health Minister Adrian Dix said 90,000 of an approximate 350,000 eligible children are registered to have their shot, which he called “a significant number.” About 75,000 were already registered Friday when Health Canada approved the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine, and another 15,000 signed up afterwards.

It’s cultural, not solely language based. Similar cultures will stick together. Canadians still get together for expat events in the US, and Americans do the same. Culturally the two countries are nearly identical so there’s no need for enclaves.

There will be bars airing Macy’s parade, and Black Friday is ubiquitous in every Canadian city. We also understand people might take a long weekend to celebrate if they’re American, or to travel to the US.

US culture is ingrained in ours, for sure.
