^70% of employers say they don't want back the guy that microwaves leftover fish and says "Workin' hard or hardly workin'?" every day.

The real insight will come from office leases. Right now it’s all just talk.

True although I am hearing very few examples of renewals at full price and for full area - except for Government of course.

Interesting perspective I heard from a buddy who is connected to the Fed Liberals on the CRB extension.

Says Feds are watching labour shortages forcing up wages for entry level employees as people stay on the sidelines. View is that this is not a bad thing and since it is hard for employers to lower wages once they are entrenched this is a way of effectively raising the minimum wage without regulating it.

this article ended up better than i thought:

Reid James, general manager of the Hotel Grand Pacific — one of Victoria largest and most prominent hotels — puts it like this: “We can’t sell rooms we can’t clean.”

There’s a shortage of housekeeping staff across the industry, with many flocking to health care and seniors’ homes for more stable employment. And that means only 80% of the Hotel Grand Pacific’s 304 rooms will be available on weekends, and about 50% during the week.

It’s the same for front-desk staff, servers, chefs, cooks, dishwashers and table bussers.

Restaurants and hotels — already at the mercy of unpredictable supply chains and rising prices — are operating at a reduced capacity because of low staffing levels, said Grant Olson, who runs the Strathcona Hotel and entertainment complex with several pubs and restaurants downtown.

of course none of it suggested that in some limited cases, employers could likely just pay higher wages here and there.  if i rent the $350/might room at the grand pacific can't my room attendant make $22/hour for the 13 minutes he spends in it each day?

Provide residency for your staff. For some it would be a massive motivator.

According to statscan, more than 2.2M folks still on EI/CRB or about 12% of the workforce. In addition to extending the CRB until end October, apparently the Liberals didn’t not lower the payment in June as planned either. Teenagers can still get $2,160 a month and pay minimal tax on that amount for doing nothing.

After a lot of thought I have decided not to reward this government for blatantly trying to buy an election.

People on the CRB might not show up as unemployed as they are not looking for work!

It is one of the first examples of a US firm firing staff for breaching a company vaccination mandate.

It is legal in the US for firms to require employees to be vaccinated.

Many large firms - including Facebook and Google - say they will require employees to be vaccinated when offices fully re-open in the months ahead.

CNN chief Jeff Zucker mentioned the dismissal in a company memo sent on Thursday and seen by several US media outlets.

Vaccination is mandatory for anyone reporting in the field, working with any other employees or going into an office, he is quoted as saying in the memo.

^ If you check with your labour lawyer I think the opinion will be that it is legal here as well to require that employees be vaccinated.

So they fired the young Cuomo?
