Vote independent. Get these politicians out of office.

Are there any (non-crackpot) independents running?  Or any at all, for that matter?

Why do people who newly arrive from somewhere else have this desire to run for office? I see it all the time.

So they can turn their new place into the place that they escaped from?

Also apparently until recently a senior member of the BC Ecosocialist Party. God help us.

Had to look up what the Ecosocialist Party was. Their slogan is at least pretty clear on where they sit in the political spectrum; "Further left than the NDP, greener than the Greens". And the real irony is they ousted their leader for not being far enough left.

The liberals have come out with a clear intention to end tent cities. This is the clearest commitment we've seen to date.

Karen Bill hasn’t bothered to retweet it... looks like she plans on running a non-existing campaign again... shame on the liberals for not even giving us a chance...

Their leader came out with some pretty transphobic stuff, according to some. That party is already a dumpster fire, with founding members calling for the board to be fired.

IMO the libs made a business decision. there's no point of dumping resources into a riding you probably don't win no matter the resources spent.

And that’s a shame.... this might have been an opening for them but without anyone actually trying, they have no chance which means we are guaranteed to end up with more of the same we already have in city council. The NDP and Green candidates are practically fac-similés of Lisa Helps.

Didn’t read back to see if this has been mentioned yet.

In Saanich North & the Islands the NDP are running Zeb King, long time Central Saanich councillor.

I don’t think he’ll unseat the Green’s Adam Olsen, but Zeb has good name recognition in the area, and will likely beat out Liberal Stephen Roberts.

The other two parties have been campaigning for a week already. NDP took a long time picking their candidate here.

I don’t know what she’s got to lose.  It’s not like the Libs stand a chance in Victoria anyway.  A firm stand against camping in the parks might actually increase her vote total a bit.

In Victoria Beacon-Hill, a vote for the NDP or the Greens is a vote for Lisa Helps and our current city council.

We deserve an alternative....

It was rumoured that he was pursuing a nomination from the Greens in VBH, but who knows. Rumours are just that.

I suspect that nobody actually wanted him and nobody actually cared. It's just his way of getting back in the news again. All he had to do was say there was a rumour strong enough that made it necessary that he write a press release to send out about it (not necessary at all)

Speaking as someone with a partner who has a PhD in clinical psychology and a MD, but still uses the suffix "Ms." in non-medical contexts, it is very tiring to see all these people with PhDs in philosophy (don't get me wrong, a very legitimate topic of study) market themselves as "doctors".

Yeah. Wouldn't that actually be somewhat classist of her to use it?

It has been confirmed that the pro-tenting Change.org counter-petition to the one launched by Cynthia Diadick used the photo of a baby crawling around Beacon Hill Park that has since been featured in an NDP campaign image (same baby, different photo).

Have been lurking around Twitter a bit. The mother of that baby started freaking out after Adam Stirling started asking questions about on social media. Called him creepy. Said she felt uncomfortable. I guess because he started asking questions about the connection? And it's related to a very political issue -Beacon Hill Park tent cities- and a controversial snap election?

Lot's of "how dare he make a mother uncomfortable!"

The list below is NOT final as we are processing candidate nominations that were delivered before the close of nominations at 1:00 p.m. on October 2.

We will update the list as soon as possible and will indicate when the list is finalized.

Looks like my choices in Richmond are the Liberal incumbent, a 19-y/o Dipper, and a Green who lives in Surrey. Hurrah.

The mother's name seems familiar, or I may just be dreaming. Kate Filion I believe it is? Did she have something to do with Helps at some time?

Yes exactly... I remember her from the court house tent city days... an pro-poverty industry activist to the core.
