news of lease opportunity today

Oak Bay wants to see better use of the lands with less area devoted to parking and a livelier site serving as more of a destination for a wider range of people. It also hopes to see a sustainable, environmentally responsible project respectful of First Nations culture, language and traditions.

Turkey Head is not natural anyway could build all the way out to America. Could fit a nice amusement park there. Or a Fremont Street experience.

It is where the movie industry parks.

Would it be feasible to put parking underground there?

I rather like the parking there. As there are fewer places to go for walks or watch the ocean in Victoria, we often drive over there. In good weather we go for a walk or sit on the beach. In stormy weather we watch the sea. I suppose another loss of parking is inevitable. It was nice while it lasted. I notice a lot of seniors park there just to watch the sea.

The roadway at the end is way bigger than it needs to be. But the area is used for events that need pavement

Some people don't like underground parking at the best of times. I can't see them being thrilled with this:

It's all in how you promote it: "Get your car washed while you meander around the marina".

Constructing a pier at Turkey Head similar to what is in Sidney would be a cool idea. Or an outdoor saltwater pool like over in Kitsilano!

How about move the parking at the end back some distance just pop in a bunch of pull out bollards. Pedestrians normally and remove the bollards for events. Cheap and easy. No lost parking.

You know, we bash parking all the time but methinks the counterpoint is pretty strong, re: places like Dallas Road, Clover Point, Willows Beach, Oak Bay Marina, Mt. Tolmie, etc. are going to be difficult if not impossible for many people to enjoy without benefit of an enclosed vehicle at those times of year when the weather is miserable.

I'm sure we've all had that experience of arriving somewhere to enjoy the view, getting out of the car, and then watching most of your party dash back into the car because it's too cold or too windy.

Even below Wharf Street I don't necessarily have an issue with some exposed surface parking. It depends on how much and how it's done.

I’d love to see an electric submarine tour out of Oak Bay.

A giant ferris wheel and a casino. It would be unique and imaginative.
