No.It might just be a brilliant 21st century marketing strategy. It got me to see the email when I otherwise wouldn’t have.
Similar to how Instagram posts will sometimes intentionally misspell words in order to game the algorithm by increasing engagement.
Never.

BMO is out with its first look on how tariffs have changed their forecasts -Assumes tariffs will be here for a year -0% GDP growth in 2025 -8% unemployment rate -0.25% rate cut at every Bank of Canada meeting until October -Loonie falls to $0.64-$0.65 US

I think BMO might be optimistic. It could well be worse, not sure that they can do rate cuts in the face of rising inflation.

We now look for the quarter-point pace to continue each meeting until October, thus ending at 1.50%. The net risk is that we get to the endpoint sooner.

If they drop rates that much our dollar is going to be in trouble.

More money circulating in Canada means more investment will be drawn here, and the weaker our dollar, the stronger the case for investment capital.

A weaker dollar may be what Canada needs to keep more money in the Canadian economy, and to entice more US tourism.
We might be lucky if the border is not closed by summer.

I agree, we’ve seen this before. We are gearing up for a huge summer season for tourism. There are still a LOT of rich people out there.

Close the border? I dunno, I really don't see that happening.

Liberal leadership candidate and unelected politician Mark Carney is clinging to “woke” ideology and DEI (diversity, equity, inclusion) agendas as the US cans such policies.
President Donald Trump has axed funding for all DEI programs and condemned institutions like the Federal Aviation Administration for hiring based on skin colour and sexual preferences rather than merit.
Carney, on the other hand, apparently believes discriminating based on appearance and sexual identity is what Canadians want — and even perpetuates the veneer that these programs are “inclusive” for all.
“There’s a fever gripping America. And while it rages, Canadians will remain resolute and true to our values,” Carney told reporters Wednesday.
“While America engages in a war on woke, Canadians will continue to value inclusiveness.”

Dis'ing Trump as part of your platform (as Carney has done here) represents an unacceptable simplicity of political thinking on issues that the majority of Canadians have long realized now will require much more deft language, thought, and action from Canada's next PM.
Reading between the lines, Carney is attempting to curry favour with Canadians by continuing to use the tired old trope of using Trump as a punching bag, so what he's really showing us that he doesn't have anything close to the chops required for the job of Canada's PM in 2025.

China may have launched a "disparaging" and "malicious" campaign against Liberal leadership candidate Chrystia Freeland on the social media platform WeChat, according to the task force set up to monitor foreign election interference.
The Security and Intelligence Threats to Elections Task Force (SITE) said in a release Friday an information operation directed at Freeland was traced to WeChat's "most popular news account," an anonymous blog that experts have linked to the People's Republic of China.
The Chinese social media app is immensely popular and part of daily life in the country, from news to communication to banking, and has more than a billion users worldwide.
In a statement, SITE, which is made up of senior Canadian intelligence and security officials, wrote that over 30 WeChat news accounts took part in the campaign between Jan. 29 and Feb. 3.
"The campaign received very high levels of engagement and views, with WeChat news articles disparaging Ms. Freeland netting over 140,000 interactions," it said.
The task force estimates that two to three million WeChat users saw the campaign globally. SITE did not say what the "derogatory" content was about or list any of the WeChat accounts in question.

And CBC, with their 9,500 employees, can't figure it out? This is a garbage article if we do not know what these 30 (30, OMG!) accounts said. And frankly, who cares.
