Hellyer tried years ago to tax you yearly, on the equity in your home.

That one died an early death.

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau's government has adopted 72 secret orders-in-council — hidden from Parliament and Canadians — since coming to office, CBC News has learned.

A review by CBC News of nearly 8,900 orders-in-council (OICs) — or cabinet decrees — adopted by the federal government shows the number of secret or unpublished OICs has been rising since Trudeau came to power in 2015.

The only thing shocking about this is that the CBC is reporting it.

Perhaps. I suspect we've got quite some time before we see a significant change of tides.

Possibly...but two years ago there was no resistance in parliament and Trudeau could walk the streets freely....

Interesting to note the "Progressive" in Conservative, in Ontario.

I wonder if the national party noticed, lol.

Very deliberate.

Some Conservatives are predicting it will turn out to be the largest number of Canadians ever to join a political party at any one time in Canadian history.

Multiple Conservative Party of Canada sources say that, since the current contest to choose a new party leader began, more than 400,000 people have either joined the party, have renewed their memberships, or are existing members, giving them the right to vote in the leadership race.

Here's hoping they don't implode with the usual internal confusion and conflict.

Poiliviere is calling my cell phone every day. The deadline is tonight. This is the disadvantage of writing letters I guess. I’m still holding out for a return of the Natural Law Party…

I get the impression he's calling everybody (membership), as his competitors are as well. Best way to get them to stop is tell them who you will vote for.

Yep. I don’t know who I will vote for. I can’t bring myself to join a party though that’s for sure! I’m more of a Prole than a party member. They have more fun.

Britain's governing Conservatives will hold a no-confidence vote in Prime Minister Boris Johnson on Monday that could oust him as Britain's leader.

Party official Graham Brady says he has received enough letters from lawmakers demanding a vote on Johnson's leadership to trigger one. That happens if 54 Tory lawmakers — 15 per cent of the party's group in the House of Commons — write to Brady.

"The threshold of 15 per cent has been passed," Brady said. He said the vote would take place in person in the House of Commons on Monday evening. The prime minister's spokesperson said Johnson will address the party ahead of the vote in the afternoon.

If Johnson loses a majority vote among the 359 Conservative lawmakers, he will be replaced as Conservative leader and prime minister. If he wins, he can't face another challenge for a year, though a narrow victory could weaken his leadership.
