...her pamphlet has zero reference to Trudeau nor a picture of him....I noted this with her and she said she would like people to consider the rep not the leader...fascinating...

Compare with the no-names that won a seat in Parliament ten years ago thanks to Jack Layton.

The LPC dont go to the bathroom unless they have a poll gauging the act. The lack of reference to Jr I think will likely be seen throughout most of the western seats as they know theres an intense dislike for him personally. I bet its different in NB and Ontario etc.

The time of the cult is coming to an end I hope, time for centrists to regain control....but I doubt that will happen and we will be the worse off for it

Party allegiance seems to remain roughly the same but the entire political spectrum has shifted left.  Even the Conservatives are basically liberal these days.

It’s sad to think that one would have to vote Liberal to unseat the useless Collins.  But then there’s the embarrassing fact that MacDonald shares the name of our first PM and is therefore tainted by his vicious, genocidal record.  Almost enough to turn a person Green except that they are rapidly disappearing up their own rectum and may not even exist by election time.

The Green Party and its associated fund are taking their battle with party leader Annamie Paul to court — ending a tentative truce between Paul and party executives just as a federal election call is expected within weeks.

Court documents show that Paul took action to stop the party from holding a confidence vote on her leadership and reviewing her party membership.

The court documents say the dispute ended up in the hands of an arbitrator, who decided to quash the non-confidence vote scheduled for July 20 and call off the membership review.

In their court filing, the Green Party of Canada Fund and the Green Party of Canada are asking the Ontario Superior Court to quash the arbitration orders that set aside both the non-confidence vote and the leadership review until after the party elects a new federal council on Aug. 19. The filing is also asking for costs.

if an election is called Sep 19, then a 36 day campaign period (minimum) sets the date as Oct 25 - the first Monday after the 6 year anniverasary of the 2015 election

or

it could be called on sep 5, then a 50 day campaign period (maximum) sets the date as Oct 25 - the first Monday after the 6 year anniversary of the 2015 election

which is the 6 year pension mark.

or at anytime between those two dates or after for that matter

the point being if it is called before then some members if not re-elected might not be eligible for a parliamentary pension

to quote Minister Bennett - "Pension!"

Colwood councillor tapped by federal Liberal party to run as candidate https://www.thewestshore.ca/
If you asked Doug Kobayashi this time last year if he was planning to run in the next federal election as the candidate for the Esquimalt-Saanich-Sooke riding, he would’ve told you there was no way. But times change, and the Colwood councillor’s mind did, too.

The Westshore spoke with Kobayashi about how he got involved in the race and why he believes you should consider his candidacy when election season rolls around.

Good move for Biden.

Canada does the same thing, lots of demand for rich immigrants.

It sounds like we're going to the polls in mid-to-late September.

The level of financial ignorance in this country is breathtaking.  Both the citizenry and the government seem to think you can go on printing money forever without consequences.  History reveals a different story.  Either rampant inflation renders the money worthless (e.g. Zimbabwe, pre-war Germany, many others) and the bottom drops out.  Or, the interest on the debt eventually consumes such a large percentage of government expenditure that programs are severely curtailed, taxes are raised and social disorder ensues.  That often results in desperate money printing, leading back to the first scenario and/or an authoritarian government.

I think society is too committed to fantasy policy to avoid the eventual outcome.  All a person can really do is get their own stuff together and hopefully be one of the last ones to swirl down the drain.  On that cheery note I’ll get back to my coffee.

^ Bottom line is that for most people Fed spending has put extra money in their pocket and they have yet to see any downside that they attribute to that spending. On that basis then they want to keep the floodgates open.

Now you and I know that the impact has been exploding housing and asset prices along with a big jump in inflation, but the Feds just pass that off as greedy foreigners buying multiple homes and as temporary price increases.

If you are in the right place at the right time then wealth generation over the past 18 months has been on a scale never previously seen. Unfortunately however that is for a select few and most of those people were already rich and most of those people are hoarding their money. I feel badly for the 50+ and 30- who will either have to live though rapidly increasing prices while fixed income returns remain close to 0% or get stuck with a bill down the road which will eventually force Governments to massively cut back on spending.

“A democracy cannot exist as a permanent form of government. It can only exist until the people discover they can vote themselves largess out of the public treasury. From that moment on, the majority always votes for the candidate promising the most benefits from the public treasury, with the result that democracy always collapses over a loose fiscal policy--to be followed by a dictatorship.”

Margaret Thatcher once said that "The trouble with Socialism is that eventually you run out of other people's money."
