Looks to me like that neighbour built with windows facing the water right where you'd build on that lot. Sucks for them I guess when theres a new house in the way.

Replace that road at the bottom with a sandy beach and that would be a pretty sweet neighbourhood. Although I suppose it would also mean the houses at the right would be underwater.

I suppose it might simply be an example of prudent planning ahead. No doubt those homeowners will be feeling pretty smug when the ocean rises to the foot of those steps.

Can I say something about Bear Mountain? Back when they were doing all the clearing I remember being impressed by how many arbutus trees there were in that forest. And yet as I'm doing the Google streetview cruise this evening it seems like they didn't plant much in the way of new arbutus trees? (translation: I didn't notice any at all) What's the deal? In the city neighbourhoods there are still some arbutus trees around and they can be beauties.
