Team USA gymnast Jordan Chiles is no longer a bronze medal winner.

 

The sport’s highest court voided an on-floor appeal by Chiles’ coach that vaulted Chiles to third, the International Olympic Committee confirmed Sunday. As a result, Chiles must return the bronze medal she won in the Paris Olympics floor exercise.

 

The IOC announced early Sunday it was reallocating the bronze from last Monday’s women’s floor final to Romanian Ana Barbosu.

 

The decision came after the Court of Arbitration for Sport voided a scoring appeal made by Team USA coach Cecile Landi. The appeal during the competition placed Chiles third.

The men's relay team has been doing that gesture for years. Every team has their own little schtick when they come out. It's nothing to do with gender or whatever, I believe it's from a movie or video game. I've seen them doing it for ages, at World Championships as well as the Olympics.

Allegations have surfaced stating that Dr. Rachel Gunn aka RayGun, manipulated the qualifier by setting up her own governing body, denying grants to underprivileged performers, and allowing her husband to coach the national team. Australians have started a petition demanding an investigation and apology, it has garnered over 13,000 signatures. Should she be forced to apologize or was she humiliated enough?

The anonymous originator of the online petition offers zero evidence in support of the allegations they've made in the petition, and indeed todays rebuttal statements from the IOC and the Australian Olympic Committee note that the petition is completely false in all of its assertions.

 

Realistically, one would have to be completely blind to not have seen that something was terribly wrong with the Australian breakers Olympic performance, as dasmo noted above, her performance appeared to have been choreographed by Pedro and the dancer herself trained by Napoleon. That she wasn't self-aware enough to comprehend that her performance would be taken as a complete joke seems incomprehensible. 

 

However, with both the IOC and the Australian Olympic Committee stating that her arrival at the Olympics was 100% above board, and that she followed all necessary protocols - it would appear to bring into question there being some sort of conspiracy or illegal activity associated with her presence and performance at the Olympics.

It may be that quite possible she's just a shi_ty break dancer, and the Australian judges that gave her victories in Australia were, in fact, completely unqualified to judge.

 

Whatever the outcome, doubt has entered the room as to the unsupported allegations noted in the petition that she was essentially committing a massive fraud by "sending herself to the Olympics".
