Except for the fact that the US really cannot spin up even 5 reactors in 5 years. What are they gonna do in the meantime?

Maybe they could restart some old coal-fired plants.

I imagine they will do something for added power. Not my field but the pain might be longer than they think. We need to find different buyers, like China and make their orders a priority ahead of the US.

on the steel front we should shift all the production to building pipelines and rail. Make it an national emergency priority and just reduce and cut off US orders. Like they said they dont need us and we should not ship much.

Oil is a dirty thing and we should carbon tax every barrel to the US to high heaven. Of coarse no carbon taxes for shipments to Asia.

I dont wish them ill but we need to discount trade as much as possible. You cannot make a deal with a country whose handshake is no good.

Taxes on commodity exports to the US would be of little effect.

They can buy our aluminum indirectly via China, for example.

A small tax would be effective unless they feel like shipping things a long way. Besides not sure how thrilled China is with the US.

As a passing thought I was wondering if we divert a lot of the electrical power into making hydrogen gas for export to Europe.

Is Tim Hortons Canadian?

Patriotic fervour amid Trump tariff and annexation threats has stoked debate online

What is a Canadian?

One can always be picky and perhaps the only real Canadians are those of the first nations?

This is the sort of limp ‘post national state’ garbage that got us into this mess in the first place.
If anyone really believes this they deserve to get annexed by a country with a national identity.

Someone was just telling me that they can no longer sell California wine at their store, nor can they sell Ontario wine.

Know it all.

We don't even have free trade within our own country.

We haven’t heard anything from Doug Ford since he busted down the doors and announced electricity tariffs, only to cancel them so fast that we didn’t know government had the capacity to move like that.

What happened in that meeting he had with the Americans? What did they tell him?

In February? The rhetoric didn’t heat up until March. Wouldn’t the drop be exchange-related? It’s not a cheap time to go.

Have we done the other way around? That’s the one that matters more to our economy.

Cancelled our trip to San Francisco, San Jose in February.
