I assume he would appreciate some proper medical care to diagnose and treat his mental health issues, but that is largely impossible these days.

Sounds like he has some breakdowns now and then, but so do many others.   There may never be a simple medical fix for that.

Move forward.

I would hate to be diagnosed with borderline personality disorder. I can see moving up and forward could have extra challenges.

He's had multiple jobs, he has a job now (as a tailor?).

YES, it might be difficult, but move forward.   It sounds as though some have led him to believe he will be taken care of by government, while that might not be the case.

Thats true . Regardless of what diagnosis you receive you still need to fit into the world the world doesn’t change for you .

Strikes me as a person who’s trying and running into some brick walls, is all.

More than 30 people gathered in Parksville, by its city hall, on Friday and demanded that its council ensure there will be an overnight winter shelter for the homeless this winter.

“We are tired of Parksville not making a plan to have a proper shelter for those that are living on our streets,” said Jane McCormick, a rally organizer who is also part of Moms Stop the Harm. “Last year we lost seven people and at least one as far as I know died because of the cold.”

Sounds like Parksville is doing it right, make it as uncomfortable and unwelcoming as possible and maybe they will stop coming.

In Edinburgh right now.

I have counted six people asking for money on the streets, of a very, very busy central district in both Old Town and New Town (New Town still older than Fort Victoria).

I’ll have more thoughts later, but for a city of a million people with a stratospherically more active night life to have such clean streets, compared to downtown Victoria, just further highlights how far our city has fallen.

Body found along Victoria trail; public urged to check those in distress, unconscious

Victoria police responded about 8:30 a.m. Monday to the 600-block of Dallas Road, between Douglas and Government Streets, after receiving reports of a deceased man

No, how about we just have much less unconcious people on our streets?

Well, I am pretty sure I am not about to disturb some drug addict, at my age I dont need to get into a fight with someone who is crazy high.

I stopped calling 911 when I see what looks like dead bodies. Waste of ambulance, fire and police resources. They usually wake up and send them to hell. they want to do do drugs? Well, they can live (or die) with the consequences of their actions. And nalaxone? What a joke. Resurrecting them with more brain damage than they already have. Ffs. This insanity got to stop, and I definitely refuse to entertain this dementia. Call me heartless all you want, I'm so fed up with these people, they sucked every single bit of empathy I had left in me a looooong time ago.

I stopped calling after receiving a long lecture from the 911 operator about how people can do whatever they want on private property.  ie. if they are passed out in a storefront alcove they are untouchable.

Bullsh*t.

I also believe we are better off to let them die, anyway.  It's a better place for them.  They are of no use to society the way they are.

Recent incidents of people sheltering in Langford parks and new information suggesting the city needs 116 housing units in the next five years for ‘persons experiencing homelessness’, has caused a handful of locals to speak up in concern.

At a council meeting on Oct. 7, residents appealed to the city to be “bold” and find a housing solution suitable for people who are “economically homeless”, while pressing the province to build separate facilities for people living with serious mental health disorders and addictions.

“The homeless issue is provincial, which has been foist upon municipal governments everywhere,” said one resident.

“People with addictions and mental health problems need to be treated, not municipally but provincially, in provincial facilities that need to be built,” they added.

Referencing the Sept. 25 incident at Aurora, the supportive housing building in Central Saanich, which involved a person with a firearm, another resident raised concerns about the safety of these types of housing solutions.

“We don’t want that in Langford,” they said after earlier urging councillors to not “follow suit” and be the leader in finding its own solution to support homeless people. “We want something new, something that’s going to be great for everybody who’s facing homelessness.”

“I hope your intentions are not to repeat these mistakes and put families, seniors and businesses in danger – in our own homes and neighbourhoods,” added another local.

Sheltering in Veterans Memorial Park and Danbrook Park in recent weeks was also flagged at the meeting.

“It’s very discouraging to see them there all day,” said a Massie Drive resident. “Something has to be done with them. I don’t care what it is. I just don’t want it in front of my face, constantly."

Another local resident described upset in the community about open drug use in front of local businesses.

“The hardest working, most honourable people are being victimized by this,” they said, urging the city again to lobby the province to find a solution to the ongoing issue.

THIS!!! ^ 💯

And if I were to call, would it mean an elderly person having a heart attack would die because the ambulance would be caught up resurrecting the same junkie for the 10th time today?

I want no part of it.

However the council’s reliance on unlicensed HMOs has continued long beyond the end of the pandemic. The number of households in temporary accommodation across the Capital has risen to over 5,000 from 3,570 at the start of the first lockdown in 2020.

There were so many sirens last night, pretty much every 15 minutes, and non-stop screaming.

It can't have anything to do with Pandora being fenced off, can it?

Well, today is voting day, the people of this province will be heard.

I saw a meme recently where the NDP was bringing the homeless / drug addicts to voting places so they can get more votes 🤣

The article referenced “several people” being moved to where they could get accommodation. Sounds reasonable?
