I was at Walmart today, just as I was getting out of the car a guy in his late 20's comes up to me and starts in with a story about how he lost his job and needs some cash to put gas in his car.

As a poster at ILVI says, there is no shortage of FNations land in Duncan. Take your tent city there.

So this is Langford? Because homeless people usually don't beg outside of the Uptown Walmart. Way too much security.
Just curious, because I have heard a rumour non of this type of stuff goes on on Langford.
Go STEW!

Just trying to understand your logic. Panhandlers only beg outside of Langford Walmart.....failure of Stew Young?
Edit: Don't know why the double quote....can't edit/delete it either

Its typical ..but I understand his point .
he is used to living or being exposed to the filth in Victoria ...when he hears that 1 panhandlers was found in Langford of course it makes headlines here due to the fact it is so rare and unheard of....Blaming Stew is some form of making him look like Lisa which is so far from reality

Another beautiful day in the (low-barrier shelter) neighbourhood
...A member of the public reported seeing a man throw several packages into a metal garbage can next to a bus stop on Johnson, just east of the intersection, about 4 p.m., said police spokesman Bowen Osoko. Police used an “abundance of caution” in deciding to close the street, he said. The force’s explosive-detecting dog was brought in, and it was determined the garbage can did not contain explosives. A police officer extracted the package, which turned out to contain bags of injection drug needles, Osoko said. A suspect has been identified and police will be following up. He noted there are containers for safe disposal of needles in the vicinity...

It's nice to see my tax dollars and policing resources used for such a productive endeavour.

Why the confusion...Victoria has free everything for the homeless for the drug addicted and for the criminal element.
Victoria attracts those who are not able to help themselves and who want a free ride through life.
Langford on the other hand attracts people with money.
Free food,bed,clothing,haircuts,massages,foot care,drugs shops,
Langford is all about being a safe and welcoming community for those who want it

Langford does not have a HA Chapter but there is a rarely used meeting place for a group names the Devils Army, who, by the way supply all the illegal pot to all the illegal pot shops in Victoria.
" Home of the Drunk Driver who killed a cop? " That is really a stretch. At this point it is alleged. Nothing has been proven in court and as a matter of fact he was arrested then released without charge the day of the accident. No drunk driving charge. Also he didn't "kill a cop" it was a traffic accident not a planned killing.
A simple google search of drug busts in Langford then search of Drug busts in Victoria are not even close to being comparable Victoria is on its white flag lap on that one
The last homicide on south Island was in Nanaimo 2 days ago unless of course you are going to say Nanaimo is north Island even though Campbell River is mid point of the Island
I know your heart is in DT Vic but I would also like to add that you have said you have been accosted and threatened and that you yourself do not feel safe walking the streets of Victoria. I on the other hand feel safe walking the streets of Langford and time day or night

langofrd has families because it is a place to prosper. We have neighborhoods and a Mayor and council who have made it a great place.
Mayfair and Hillside Malls have kids?? hahahah Send that one in to Conde Naste as a reason why Victoria is a great place for kids.
Langford has it all and were not done yet....people come from all over the CRD to visit Langford . they drop their money here like its going out of style

Langford is one of the faster growing cities in Canada and you truly believe your self when you claim that the only reason people decide to live and make their homes here is because of a Costco Store? That comment is not only absurd its just bizzare.
