Just curious, given phase I is almost sold out, any owners on here?

I must say, I’m liking this. If I had a spare mill I might be interested.

Better get back to the basement and solve a few crimes I guess. Brb.

A lot of spandrel on this one, too. You think?

Inspired by the Encore at Bayview, no doubt.  ;)

I guess there has been a major sale on the price of pale green spandrel glass.

It probably is, but VV doesn't offer that as a font colour option. ;)

You think a different colour would like better or you just don't like the glass?

A little of both. The "seafoam" colour is a bit dull (it's the beige of the green-tone colour family) and I generally don't like too much spandrel glass. To be fair, it seems to be less excessively used here than on the Encore project, but my preference would always be for more clear glazing. I think Legato has struck a nice balance of solid wall surface and glazing, without relying on spandrel glass too much.

+1 really impressed with the way the Legato came out.

I have two units in this complex (one in each phase), and I'm extraordinarily disappointed in this seafoam spandrel. It makes the building look immediately dated. The renderings showed a modern white colour, so this is quite the shock.

Once they thrown in the orange and green tiles, I fear it's going to look even worse. Not sure what these guys are thinking.

I think that the "white" colour of the rendering is an optical illusion, since the spandrel is only visible on the shadowed side of the building. I also was surprised to see the seafoam colour, I had thought it was white as well.

It would be nice if Victoria/Saanich design panels could get a handle on the spandrel issue before people start seafoaming at the mouth about it. So many (often irrelevant) design aspects are scrutinized almost to death, but the spandrel issue doesn't seem to be on the radar. Even though Victorians have the benefit of seeing how things have been playing out in Vancouver and Toronto and other places.

A few spandrel-heavy buildings here or there won't matter, since Victoria has really been spared up until now. But you don't want this trend to continue unabated, especially on prominent buildings to come.

Let's take a moment to be thankful for all of the brick-tastic modern buildings that we often complain about. If Victorians didn't have such a hankering for brick cladding, many of those buildings would probably be spandrel-tastic instead.

Behold "Tempo," an eclectic (and not good) mix of dark red brick veneer, sunflower yellow concrete, and turquoise spandrel glass here in Richmond. The massing certainly doesn't help, but that can't be avoided when you're building under the YVR flightpath...
