Did they share the same producers? Nothing is by accident in that industry.

The Singaporean leader confirmed Tuesday that Swift was provided with “certain incentives” in exchange for making Singapore her only Southeast Asian destination on her Eras Tour. Lee defended the deal at a joint news conference with Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese, a self-professed Swiftie whose Spotify Wrapped list boasted Taylor Swift as his second most streamed artist of 2023. Albanese is hosting the summit in Melbourne, coinciding with the 50th anniversary of Australia becoming ASEAN’s first external partner.

Lee did not reveal the cost of the exclusive deal, which was paid for from a government fund established to rebuild tourism after COVID-19 disruptions. He also did not directly answer when asked if he had encountered bad blood among other leaders due to the deal, instead suggesting that if Singapore hadn’t struck an exclusive deal, a neighboring country might have done so.

“It has turned out to be a very successful arrangement. I don’t see that as being unfriendly,“ Lee said.

Thailand’s Prime Minister, Srettha Thavisin, brought attention to the deal in February with a public claim that a promoter told him the Singaporean government subsidized the concerts with around $2 million to $3 million per show with a condition that the artist not play anywhere else in Southeast Asia.

Got tickets to Ice Cube. My son is into rap but listening to artists my age haha. I like Ice Cube for standing his ground and turning down a 5 million dollar movie offer because they wanted to force him to be injected with government juice.

You guys should sit down together next to a campfire and sing along to some of Ice Cube’s finest lyrics. Here’s something to get you guys started:

And when I see your a** again, I'll be hesitant
Now I think you a snitch
Throw a house n**** in a ditch
Half-pint b****, f*****' your homeboys
You little maggot, Eazy-E turned f*****
With your manager, fella
F*****' MC Ren, Dr. Dre, and Yella
But if they were smart as me
Eazy-E would be hangin' from a tree
With no Vaseline, just a match and a little bit of gasoline
Light 'em up, burn 'em up, flame on

Neil Young on Wednesday said his music will return to Spotify, just over two years after he and other artists removed their catalogues from the music streaming platform amid a vaccine disinformation dispute.

Spotify has not confirmed the news. CNBC has contacted the company for comment.

The row that led to his departure centered on Spotify’s multimillion-dollar deal with Joe Rogan, whose eponymous podcast was accused by Young of spreading “fake information” about the Covid-19 pandemic and vaccines. A group of 270 U.S. doctors and scientist also called on Spotify to “take action against the mass-misinformation events which continue to occur on its platform.”

In a statement released Tuesday, Young said that his decision to return was in light of Apple and Amazon “serving the same disinformation podcast features” he opposed at Spotify.

Spotify announced a multi-year deal with Rogan last month that removed its exclusivity, meaning “The Joe Rogan Experience” will return to platforms, including Apple Podcasts, YouTube and Amazon Music.

“I cannot just leave Apple and Amazon, like I did Spotify, because my music would have very little streaming outlet to music lovers at all,” Young said on his website.

The singer, whose hits include “Heart of Gold,” “Old Man” and “Harvest Moon,” made multiple digs at Spotify in his statement, calling it the ”#1 streamer of low res music in the world ... where you get less quality than we made.” He also urged the platform to introduce a high-resolution tier.

Young previously said Spotify accounted for 60% of his global streaming revenue, prior to his departure.

I have seen him in concert more than any other artist. I love Neil's music. I like listening to it in 128 MPG format while I trash trash vaccines....

The City of Victoria has dipped into its contingency funds to provide $55,000 in one-time funding that may save one arts group and give new life to another.

Council voted 5-2 to approve a $20,000 grant for the Victoria Multicultural Society to put toward operations at the Victoria Event Centre, and $35,000 for the Neighbourhood Arts Society, formerly known as the Fernwood Community Association.

Councillors Marg Gardiner and Stephen Hammond opposed the awards.

Hammond said he was uncomfortable being seen to support a group — the Fernwood Community Association — that recently cancelled a play — Theatre Inconnu’s residential-school-set play Sisters — due to complaints over its content, and the fact the award comes so close to budget finalization.

Gardiner said she does not like the one-off style of grant that seems to pick winners and losers in the city based on who has access to councillors willing to make the funding request.

Citing rising operating costs and trouble recovering from the pandemic, the Victoria Multicultural Society wrote to council requesting urgent financial support, saying the Victoria Event Centre is in “a precarious state that is threatening our ability to remain open.” “We are deeply concerned that the VEC’s capacity as a gathering space for the Victoria arts community is at risk,” the society said.

The funding is earmarked for staff wages and rent.

Not Victoria but YVR @ Rogers Arena in October - Hans Zimmer. Wow. I'll be all over that one for sure.
