...have cops ever even admitted the Rav 4 belonged to the dead university guy?
I believe that information was confirmed yesterday. I recall hearing this on the CHEK News last night.

well for gosh sakes give us more information at least. tell us about the evidence. nothing has to be saved for trial now. have cops ever even admitted the rav 4 belonged to the dead university guy?
all the reasons for secrecy surely are gone now. so cough up the info.
Again, you seem to be under the premise that police know with certainty that these two committed all three murders. If they don't know that, then they still need to be cautious in releasing information that could jeopardize the investigation, because like I said, maybe they is someone else or maybe something played out differently than we're all assuming.
The public's thirst for knowledge, while important, should not derail an investigation.

i think it's at best a 50/50 prospect that they let the public know how they died. we'll see.

The autopsies suggest both individuals were dead for several days before they were found, but the exact time of their deaths are not known.
Police said two firearms were found near the bodies, and forensic analysis is underway to confirm whether these weapons are connected with the northern B.C. homicide investigations.
The search for McLeod, 19, and Schmegelsky, who would have turned 19 on Aug. 4, covered 11,000 square kilometres in northern Manitoba alone — an area larger than Jamaica.

this whole case is sad all around, we will never know why this all happened.. all the loss of life, it just seems senseless... these two young men were friends seemed to come from completely different backgrounds.. one had a hard childhood where the other seemed to have a stable (dare i say loving) childhood.. there were red flags from one of the young men (when you look back) but not the other.. and ofcourse the father of the one is not helping the situation (it seems like the other family is staying away from the media)

Back when this started the father said he is one of the most hated men in Canada, he was wrong then but he is making a strong case for himself now.

Two Port Alberni murder suspects who were the subjects of a Canada-wide manhunt used a cellphone to record a final video message before shooting themselves in northern Manitoba, according to a report.
The Star Vancouver reported Monday that part of the "last will and testament" video recorded by Kam McLeod, 19, and Bryer Schmegelsky, 18, was shared with the teens' families.
The video was reported to show McLeod and Schmegelsky saying goodbye and describing their last wishes for their remains, according to a family member interviewed in the story.

In an Aug. 21 email to Alan Schmegelsky’s lawyer, the RCMP acknowledge the existence of a video in which Bryer Schmegelsky describes what he wants to happen to his body after his death.
The RCMP say the video has been released to Bryer Schmegelsky’s mother as his next of kin, and they will not be sharing the video with his father.
The email also says police plan to release information about the video to media in the next couple of weeks, and ask that this information be kept private.
Alan Schmegelsky’s lawyer, Sarah Leamon, said he wants access to the video in order to find closure after his son’s death.

The father of Bryer Schmegelsky, one of the two young men suspected in the deaths of Leonard Dyck, Chynna Deese and Lucas Fowler, has been allowed to watch part of the video his son recorded before his suicide in the remote Manitoba wilderness.
“It was very emotional for everyone, it’s not an easy thing,” said his lawyer, Sarah Leamon, who negotiated the video’s reveal with the RCMP. “He is quite emotional about it.”
The agreement came after negotiations between Al Schmegelsky’s lawyer and the Royal Canadian Mounted Police.
Schmegelsky viewed the video Thursday morning, Leamon said.

Will Schmegelsky senior be negotiating a video tie-in to go with his book sales? It seems as though this man isn't above making a buck over this tragedy.
