holy crap this is funny.  I usually grab the paper for the flyers, and leave the "newspaper" part in the box

“You can may be find a place in Colwood or View Royal, where you can may be afforded,” she says. “But if you are a full-time student, who is may be working a part time, it is completely unreasonable to ask them to commute that far every day, especially with our transit system.”

^Being an accurate reporter doesn't mean writing every word verbatim. It means that when you are incorporating spoken dialogue into a story you edit for clarity.

I honestly don't know what is going on. You don't see errors like this in the Martlet or Nexus.

You may have noticed a new logo for the Victoria News on our Facebook page – it was updated recently as part of a “soft change.” But now that our readers and viewers have had a little time to get used to it, we’re happy to say it’s part of a new direction too. It’s simple, it’s strong, it’s now. And so are we.

The News unveiled a new website earlier this year. We’ve hired more staff, expanded our coverage, built up new audiences and have moved towards more stories, more video and more community engagement.

We’re thinking about the future of journalism here at the Vic News.

While we continue to be a hyperlocal, bi-weekly newspaper and your best source of community news within Victoria and Esquimalt, we’re also moving full-steam ahead in making the transition to a hyperactive multimedia company that will bring you breaking news as it happens, along with rich video, powerful storytelling, visuals and fun engagement across all of our social media platforms and website.

^ How are they going to get breaking news along with "rich video and breaking storytelling", did they cut a deal with VV?!

The "rich video" is the reporter holding their phone in selfie mode.

V-Channel did this 10 years ago but their camera operators/reporters put their cameras on a tripod so you weren't looking up their noses. That didn't last long as they soon went to the traditional two-person reporting team.

I thinks that what we're required is that the reporters get better basic grammars skills so that readers can more follow along with those breaking stories each arise.

Its a step in, for absolute certainty, the right directions. The rush towards 'feed and 'ist suffixed content, in other words, styles of reporting or journalism artistry, is upon us at right now.

Moving full steam ahead. Might be just a tad anachronistic for a digital media enterprise.

I can't even write this badly on purpose...

Harper joins council with little more than one left until the 2018 general municipal election.

The Gordon Head Recreation was also the subject of criticsm from one at least one caller to the Saanich News, who complained long wait times in casting her ballot.
