Highrises are going to surround the Armoury on Bay Street?

The illustrations are not intended to be taken literally but they promote an aggressive densification including high-rises.

Right now that corner has four business whose sole purpose is maintaining internal-combustion engine cars.

It'll be a chilly day in Hades before our current council approves that sort of density for the Rock Bay area.

They can sell you new wiper blades for your Tesla.

That rendering looks just like Vancouver!

That is all the reason our local government needs to turn down the densification of Rock Bay. The starting point for all development decisions in the CoV is that they must never emulate Vancouver.

I work in the Vancouver Island Brewery Building on Government St., directly in front of the cement plant. BC Hydro inexplicably ended all parking agreements in the annexed lot beside our site as well as spots that ran adjacent to it.

Not sure what this could mean for future planning/due diligence.

Interesting. Was that lot always used for parking, or was it a short term measure of some kind when downtown started losing hundreds of parking stalls every season?

Know it all.

Not been around long enough to know. Interesting to note that there is a lot directly behind it which you may be able to see in the photo at a lower grade. It is fully paved, equipped with street lamps, and aside from no painted lines - ready to rent for an additional 50+ cars. Yet is has never been available to rent and simply sits vacant and locked at the gate. BC Hydro must know they are losing out on $6000+ per month in free money.

It was used as Hyundai's used care lot for awhile. Like 7-8 years ago.

This signage is still there!

Wasn't that also the location of Timmis Motors? He was the guy that built "new" '34 Fords.

It is amazing in that photo how close to government the water used to come.

Visit my blog at: https://www.sidewalkingvictoria.com

It has a whole new look!

And the old creek than ran under Government Street near Queens still comes out of a large culvert into Rock Bay.

Apparently both lots have been sold to a party from Vancouver. They are both part of one parcel. Saw a couple "business looking" people walking around pointing fingers at things this morning.
