Looks like bridge work on the David Foster Pathway will wait a bit longer.

So that's 5 million taxpayer dollars that stays in the bank by not building the bridges.
It's not like the absence of these new bridges actually stops anybody from walking around the Inner Harbour and waterfront ... healthy walkers have been strutting around that route (sans bridges) since Emily Carr was painting trees in Mount Doug Park.
I guess it's time once again to re-fill that big pot of "fun-money" that Victoria City Council thinks is sitting in a room somewhere up in the City Hall attic ... a Council that seems to have no idea where all that money comes from, or how you get more to spend when you run out!

That sure is one useless little park. It should be sold to Reliance to redevelop along with Northern Junk. On second thought, based on the most recent renderings for the NJ site, maybe the park is best left as is.

Nice to see a start on this. BTW, I see the Amy Usen is back in all her glory. Does she still have docking privileges beyond the new bridge opening? Anyone know the latest on this regular fixture in the harbour?

Do we know whether this is going to connect all the way to the bridge/janion or will it stop at the south edge of the northern junk property.
Either way, any improvement to that park is a plus!

I believe it will stop at the southern edge of the NJ property. If a design (not the current one, please) is ever approved for NJ, I assume the path will be continued to the bridge at that time.

It's a great little park. I often grab some food and sit down on the rocks on my lunch breaks. Eat and then read for a bit before heading back to the office. I value these rare little parcels of green space downtown, especially along the water.

It astonishes me how Naprker can find hate in everything, especially something so minuscule like a small park. Can't wait for your next post...

To him, everything is literally the worst!

To him, everything is literally the worst!
That's not possible. Everything cannot be the worst. As a adjective, the word "worst" is a superlative and can only apply to one thing from a group where that thing stands out from the rest. So it would be more correct (while still completely fallacious) for your statement to say "To him, everything is bad, but XXX is the worst".

And now to really confuse you: I love your post. Just made a liar out of you.

It doesn't look like there will as much green space remaining in Reeson Park after the waterfront walkway is complete. I still think incorporating it in someway in the Northern Junk redevelopment would make sense.

I scoped out the work at Reeson Park today. It's hard to say for certain how much of the park will ultimately form part of the David Foster walkway, but I'd say the remaining green space will be reduced by at least 40% when all is said and done.
ps: don't tell aastra, but I think they might have to remove some native rock in order to put the path through

Pouring concrete, on a Saturday...
I would imagine there is some urgency to get Reeson Park turned back over to its usual inhabitants. The mayor is likely under a good deal of pressure on this project.
