So the problem that many have commented on is what can now be built on that skinny lot next door if this building is allowed. In an ideal world it would be part of the development but it isn't. Any thoughts?

At least this looks better than Wall Financial's last project in Victoria. I have no idea what Bruno was thinking for Worldmark at Victoria at 120 Kingston St. No one should put hardiplank on 7 and 9 storey building.

Anyone know when construction is to break ground?

The site is now a Robbins pay parking lot so I'm not optimistic. :(

The same fate the developer's project in the 1000-block of Yates is facing?

Yeah, that's been nothing more than a big hole in the water for a few months now.

Ya, I walked by there yesterday, nothing doing. (Something fierce).

"something fierce"

Often added to the end of something to signify 'to a great degree'.

Dude, he was drunk something fierce last night.
This meat stinks something fierce, throw it out!
This development is delayed something fierce.

Still, I'm hoping something fierce is eventually built there.

fierce adj 1. notably excellent or of superior quality. ("Damn, that was one fierce cup of coffee!")

This development is alive and well and is just in the process of taking on new partners. I can't say who at this time, but they are well known.

^I think so but it's never been to public hearing. How long does a development permit last?

It sounds like the developer wants to start construction this fall.

As for your question, in my opinion, yes, they are well liked and well known and have been active around the North American market for many years. This will be there first commercial development in Victoria.

Do you have any details as to how large the project is, what the use is, etc?

This development is the old Volvo car lot behind the BCCA buidling.

Latest news is the prospective developers are having trouble making the numbers work with high construction cost and about a $500/sf selling cost. Could be another example that our overheated construction market is coming to a close. Anyone here want to pay half a million for a 2 bedroom condo?
