Totally agree.

I would just like to add say a three storey piece to the West and the North and then maybe add one more storey to the tower too just to differentiate between this and the Suttons.

That said if they were going ahead as is with this building I would be thrilled.

What a crazy city. This fine little building was proposed for the corner of Johnson and Cook, and meanwhile we've got Trendwest and the Songhees for the world to see on the waterfront.

this building was hard enought to get past ADP without requesting any variances in height. we would have gone higher if it weren't such a hassle in this city.

Yes, but the version that came after Design Panel was vastly superior to the initial version. Architects could help themselves by designing buildings that don't suck.

I'm pleased to announce this building is being revived. Since the DP has expired it will go to our Community Association and Public Hearing.

Same proponent and same project, or has an entirely new proposal surfaced?

Architect Herb Kwan is still involved but I don't know if there are new owners. Herb's office is on Herald St. near Viberg and you can spot the 1048 model in the window.

Thanks, Rob.

The reason I ask is to whether or not revive this thread (if it's the same project, same proponents, etc) or create a new thread.

Wassup here? I see nothing going on but a nice big, and fairly clean parking lot, that isn't even being used for parking.

A geotechnical crew is drilling on the site this morning.

Yes, saw them roll in there this morning, the lot is still taped off, thinking this is the end of the parking lot? Has anyone heard anything else?

Be great to finally see something go in there, it will be great for that end of Johnson..

Not a bad looking building, but it's almost a bit too much like the Juliet. I'd like to see something on that corner.

Yeah, but they don't do testing just for the hell of it. Someone's paying good money so at the very least the lot is changing hands to another developer who's doing due diligence.

I can't believe it's been almost two years since I was told this project was back on. I've heard nothing since then.

Most of the parking lot is fenced off right now and machines are drilling.

Those were Hazco trucks, so it looks like they are still doing site evaluation and/or clean-up.

This project is so old, I'm certain the Development Permit is long expired.

Here's the model in the window of Herbert Kwan's office on Herald St.

This is such a well scaled design. If and when something does get built on this site I hope it is very similar to this design.
