Monstrous & overwhelming view-blocking behemoths ain't what they used to be.

When this one was coming into the Marina, i didn't think it was going to make it.  It's not parked in a slip, wouldn't fit.  But it is now currently blocking the slip right in front of it....

Is that the one that ended up as a crappy restaurant in the currently remaining dockside green area or a different ship?

last time I boated to Toronto I actually found Niagara Falls less friendly than Toronto.

Wyoming was also not very boat friendly.

Ok so I don't know why I'm going through old threads at this hour (actually I do - sleep and I have a tenuous connection). I used to work for the City of Niagara Falls. Got the business card and badge to prove it. Not a good place to boat. Was shocked to learn when I moved there, it is a big place for folks who want to commit suicide. Those gorge walls are high, that water is fast. You don't even have to be near the falls. Also a few drunk folks who did themselves in by going over the small vintage rock walls along the edge to uhm relieve themselves. Interesting place to live.

when they shut off the American falls in the 70’s for some erosion repair they found a couple bodies.

Oh they found lots of stuff when they turned off those falls. I love telling folks they turned off the falls. They can't wrap their hands around it.

At least when I worked there, so ancient history now, in the 90s, the falls pretty well disappeared every night, Canadian side, because the water would be diverted to the hydro plants.

Dennis Washington's Attessa IV would likely be the largest modern day yacht to tie up in Victoria.

Well if it cost $24M to construct that means the Province would have to pay $72M for it.

I am thinking closer to $15M is the number in today's market.

Bob Evans, the dynamic developer behind Songhees and the Victoria International Marina, has died at age 80.

Evans worked with the City of Victoria and the province to develop the former industrial site at Songhees, transforming it into a high-end residential enclave with a hotel, waterfront walkway, commercial buildings and a marina. The development brought a new look and new uses to the Vic West side of Victoria Harbour.
