That Food Country development really leaves me wanting more.

I say tear it down, put underground parking, do the retail part properly (instead of just renovated), then put 1 or 2 floors of residential above. Done.

^Agreed.

And saying you prefer Food Country to Oxford Foods is like saying you prefer the AMC Pacer to the Gremlin. :D

The old Chinese guy in the tweed jacket that owns Oxford is a riot, though.

Here's the PDF[/url:7a42f] for the proposed changes to Phase 1 for the September 28th council meeting.... I plan to extract some of these and post zoomed images of the plan pages once I get access to a program that can extract pdf's to jpegs.

Here are a couple of pages done just until you find the right program. It's easy on Mac.

Castana Page 13 - North Elevation

That's great Funky. Thanks for extracting that! I spend an hour last night trying to send the jpegs from my computer with the rich man's version of Acrobat. In the end the stupid files were too big...anyway...

OK so I have some higher quality renderings and plans of the entire Castana project.
As you will see, they answer a lot of questions some of us had.
Firstly, the recently apporved Sutlej, residential portion.
North elevation:

East elevation:
[/url:c9f0c]
West elevation:

The broken lines around the top of the buildings represent the height of the originally approved building that was axed.

Here's the landscape plan for the entire project. Notice the two seperated parking lots right next to each other. What's that all about? I'd open it up as one and close the car access from Sutlej.

Here's where we finally can answer the question: What the hell is going on with Food Country???
[/url:f9ca3]
South elevation. (from Oliphant)
[/url:f9ca3]
East elevation (Cook St)
[/url:f9ca3]
Food Country site plan:
[/url:f9ca3]

Food Country conclusion: It's staying. An addition is being added the the store on the south side, or another separate retail space is being added.

It is truly rediculous that no residential is being added on the Food Country side. Why is this? Why wouldn't Armadon at least try?

I wonder if that's yellow paint or stained wood.??

It might be the case that he'll propose residential in a little while once the dust settles around this fiasco. I'm sure the foundation and structural properties of FC will handle an extra floor.

Stained wood, hey? That's a good call.

Not worth the legal retainer fees.

This will be an awesome project though. i am very glad Food Country is staying and hopefully getting bigger! Also losing that side parking lot is a great idea.

It has a whole new look!

Oh, and this rendering, on the corner of Sutlej and Cook is still as it is. This section called "Bohemia" will be build as you see it here:

I don't know if it's stained wood or not. Wishful thinking.
