Exactly. Give him a chance to get his second wind.

I have no issue with Rob. He was asked to go on CFAX solely because he had announced he was running for a council position. To then immediately turn around and say he is waffeling is unacceptable. After all, his last name isn't Favre!

With lots of solid people quickly adding their name to the ballot, the public isn't going to give any one newcomer too much rope.

Rob e-mailed me today with the news and I told him I was disappointed that he wasn't going to be in the running but understood his reasons not to run and that I supported him in anything he did. I'm sure he will remain influential in civic matters.

I am sorry to see Rob go but he made a fool of himself in the process. The public has a short memory and it won't last however.

Best wishes to Rob.

I don't think he made a fool of himself at all. He wasn't on my radar at all before this - now I know a lot more about him and his company, and he has my deepest respect.

Er, which flagpole are we talking about? The one at the top of the hill (Beacon Hill)?

Yeah that's "the flagpole" .. I'm going to be working at that time but I can look at VV. Will someone with a handheld go and let us know what's up?

By the way... if he starts doing urbanist runners tours of major developments around the city then I might actually take up jogging.

No, I need to get into better shape first anyway, I needed to go to Oak Bay to buy some picture rail hooks. Pics of the event in an hour

Good grief. Watch him drop out again tomorrow.

If Rob thinks that Stan Sipos was the big obstacle to overcome for Mayor then he has his math wrong.

I'm imagining he withdrew from the race for council in order to put his ducks in a row to run for Mayor. His website shows a fair amount of forethought went into it, so obviously this isn't an overnight decision.

I am sure that he dropped out of the running for council when the likes of Rob Randall spoke up and he figured he couldn't win.

Makes Rob Reid look very opportunistic.

Just out of curiosity Spanky, do you have a personal gripe with Rob Reid? Or would you like to voice your support for Dean Fortin? Your criticisms so far have been about optics. But you are the only person I've heard interpret them this way - when you say "it makes him look," I am not seeing that.
