Simon has pretty much mastered the skill of typing with his face. We let the duplicate posts slide

When we drove through Blaine today all the locals were waving at us and there was a big banner across the main street saying "Welcome back Canada."

Did we do the same on our end when the Clipper had its few sailings, or when the Coho arrived yesterday?
Coho arrived to water salute, a few water taxis. Didn't see any officialdom ie local government, tourism. But I could be wrong.

that’s really more a moderator job? unless you want to start a new thread from scratch? But I don’t know if they care and are busy people, VW says this is not a big deal
I suspect the next port might be Ogden?

For the last 20 months, we have worked hard and collaborated with government and industry to ensure that when ships return to Victoria, we will be ready to safely welcome passengers and crew. Health and safety measures and regulations will be determined by Transport Canada and the Public Health Agency of Canada and will be in place for next season. This will include mandatory vaccination requirements for passengers and crew and COVID management plans and reporting protocols for all ships. On the ground, operations team members have been working with partners to ensure the safe movement of passengers upon arrival, both on the terminal and in the community. Planned measures will always meet both federal and provincial health requirements.
As a community-based, not-for-profit, revenues that we generate from the cruise industry help to support our amenities throughout the harbour including the Ogden Point Breakwater and Inner Harbour Lower Causeway. For the past two fiscal years, we have experienced multi-million dollar losses. We look forward to restarting our investment in these well-loved spaces.

^ I wonder if they have received assurances from the feds that the PCR test requirement will be dropped.

In 2022, Norwegian Encore, Majestic Princess, and Royal Caribbean’s Quantum of the Seas will make their inaugural calls to Victoria.
The first ship arriving at Ogden Point will be Caribbean Princess, at 9 a.m. on April 6.
Majestic Princess will be the first vessel to utilize the Pier B mooring dolphin extension that was completed in early 2020.
The schedule is being spread out, said Robertson, with some ship calls coming on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays next year — and fewer on the
weekends.

Unless that thing spins at 30RPM, it doesn't look all that cool.

Forty-four people on board Royal Caribbean's Symphony of the Seas cruise that ended in Miami on Saturday tested positive for COVID-19, the cruise line said.
The cruise line also notified passengers on that sailing and on two others that a passenger who sailed on that ship during an earlier itinerary tested positive for the omicron variant of the coronavirus.
All passengers age 12 and older were required to be fully vaccinated and to test negative to board the cruise, which departed from Miami on Dec. 11. Children ineligible for the vaccine were required to test negative, too.
