Clive’s is looking for his replacement. Chateau Vic is a union shop and enjoys a good reputation in the f and b commuity. They will have a tough time filling those shoes.

Block is on Yates, the old SA spot. What was that called again? It's extremely popular, probably not for sale yet.
FOD looks about right tho. Didn't that place start out doing brunch?

Tomazic said he’s investing between $250,000 and $300,00 in the building. Capacity is for 110 patrons, including the outdoor covered patio, but it will initially be designed for 80 to accommodate social distancing.
The lounge plans to offer drag performances with local talent, live music, comedy shows and live-streaming events in accordance with provincial health requirements. “We want this space to be safe and enjoyable for all,” said Tomazic.
Like its Kelowna counterpart, the new location will serve cocktails, local draft beers and gourmet bites from 4 to 10 p.m. It will also offer daily breakfast and brunch service from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Unlike the Kelowna location, which is a 19+ establishment, Friends of Dorothy Lounge in Victoria is able to welcome people of all ages due to different licensing.

A Victoria nightclub closed its doors after less than a year of operating.
The Medusa’s Shot House had its final weekend on Jan. 5, 2025 after announcing just two days before that it would be closing for good.
The club was operated by the same owners that ran the Senora Bar & Grill in the same space at at 531 Yates Street.
The club only just opened in June 2024.
“We decided to close Sonora Bar and Grill because we have an idea to bring a shot bar. So we are doing some renovations and opening this Thursday,” said Gabriela Zendejas, who owns the business alongside Joe Aguilar.
The announcement was made on Jan. 3, 2025 in an online post stating:
“With mixed feelings we say good bye to this chapter of our lives. This is our last weekend. Thank you for so much fun and shared histories!!!”

Fifty grand?! I remember when he took over the Plum clothing store and tripled his size. Hole in the wall did great, but after the massive renovation and all it was just never quite the same. We used to go often.

$23,000 per month total rent. How much food do you have to sell to make that work?
I've never really been an Asian food guy, mostly because nobody has taught me, but funny enough I have been to this place a few times. Post-expansion. But I remember it before, too.
Good memory on the Plum take-over.

What year did Plum close? I feel like Azuma has been around for at least 15 years.
Plum permanently closed in October 2019.
Everyone at Plum wants to thank you for your business over the last thirty-eight years . Being a small business has had its rewards and its challenges but we encourage you to continue supporting your local independent businesses.
Shop your neighbourhood and enjoy the human contact that it offers.
Best regards,
Everyone at Plum.
I think the Victoria store closed in like 1995. I could be very wrong.

AZUMA SUSHI, Yates Street, Victoria 2012
https://www.jcscott....es/hospitality/
Open since 2001, Azuma Sushi is the most prominent Japanese restaurant on Vancouver Island. Conveniently located in the heart of downtown Victoria, our 180 seat restaurant features, two sushi bars, a lavish drink bar, and a breathtaking aquarium that is sure to exceed any dining expectations.

OK, maybe it opened in 2001, big expansion in 2012.
I knew my 1995 might have been way off. What was on that corner before, Harvey's Hamburgers?
StreetView shows Plum in 2009, Azuma in 2012.
