I think we mix up bargain and cheap and since quality is harder to compare and define, the cost of something becomes the measuring stick. When you look up the definition of cheap, "good" is nowhere to be found, and one of the definitions of bargain is "good buy". It suggests getting something of quality for less than expected.

Oreganos does a mid week pizza deal which isn't cheap at all, but I know I cant make a pizza for less than they are selling it at, AND goddamn it is good. I have eaten a lot of burgers in my time and I know I can make one cheaper than Big Wheel, but their burger is way better than mine so occasionally I treat myself to a good burger which I consider a bargain, rather than cheap.

If you don't value something, then your opinion of its "price" is mute. I don't like road riding so I think road bikes are too expensive, I love mountain biking and don't think twice on dropping $3000 on my bike which when you factor in all the enjoyment I get from it, is a bargain for me.

It all comes down to the economic definition of utility, or the consumer's satisfaction from a good or service.

Mike derives a high degree of utility from a Big Mac because he thinks it is a delicious burger at a good price. I derive zero utility from a Big Mac because just thinking about one makes me want to puke.

A burger with fries at Big Wheel is $12.

Cheap is what Burger King offers at $6 for two Whoppers. Cheap+good doesn't exist any more in Victoria as far as prepared food is concerned.

I think an Arepa at Fogata Latina is 6 bucks, still good cheap tacos at Hernandez, the chinese bakery and butcher on Government is crazy cheap only issue being cash only. There is a lot of cheap+good places.

I was in Italian Deli the other day and paid 7.50 for a panini. They have been creeping up steadily for a while.

A Thai restaurant at Saanich Centre has closed. It was beside Yoshi Sushi near the south east side of this rather tired 80s shopping centre.

Rumour has it the space will be divided in two and a Starbucks will move in. That should be a smart move as in addition to the many offices in the centre, Saanich Municipal Hall and the Fire and Police departments are practically across the street. What's more, the old drive through from when it was a Burger King is still there, including the ordering and pickup windows.

Is it  Lao Vientaine that closed? They had an amazing yellow curry!

^^Isn't Saanich Centre the one at the corner of Quadra and McKenzie? This other is one is Saanich Plaza. I think.

Yeah, I think you're right but I don't remember the names. I think the Save-On section has a different name than the HSBC section. And the section behind Save-On along Saanich Rd. is Munro Centre.

The judges have ruled: HSBC and Yoshi Sushi are in Gateway Village. Save-On and Tim Hortons are Saanich Plaza.

Hansbraun owns many of Saanich's shopping plazas.

Ebizo sushi is also opening in broadmead village. Adds two new sushi places for those in the area when coining dragon roll sushi.

No it's about $7.50 now, but still a pretty decent deal.
