^Unbelievable.
Strange. My Asian friends are the ones that used to refer to Vancouver as Hongcouver and to Surrey and Burnaby as Punjabi enclaves. Never once thought of them using the terms to insult themselves.

Ya, the article also doesn't say how many comments, what percentage etc. They also removed them all so we cannot see for ourselves.

I’m proud to live in such a multicultural country but ashamed that so many white people make life miserable for others with their disgusting actions.
I suppose it was inevitable that some Canadians would eventually be making offensive generalizations about other Canadians. Although it would have been helpful if a definition of "white people" had been provided with the article. When I go outside and see strangers I want to be confident I'm sneering or smiling at the right people.
These stories are meant to serve as provocations. Don't fall for it. When they encourage you to be hateful, don't fall for it. When they encourage you to feel under attack, don't fall for it.

^Next you'll be asking how we can even be sure the articles and comments we're reading online are the actual thoughts and reflections of actual living people.

Anyway, this is a potentially subversive tangent. Let's heed the lesson from our media overlords and get back to despising other people. (But in the officially approved manner, of course.)

i'm glad to see Hmart going in (though i'll admit i would rather have it be a T and T market.. though from what i hear both stores have a decent cross over market) i think it provides something this town could use that it doesn't already have... yes it might be a chain store but it's not a massive chain, it's not another walmart or dollar store or offer the same things that you can find just about everywhere else...

Country Grocer buys Island's four 49th Parallel Grocery stores
“Much like the Richmond family, Country Grocer’s operations began as humble beginnings in 1984 here on Vancouver Island, and today is operated by a multi-generational ownership team who will be dedicated to continuing the legacy of quality service to these communities for years to come.”
The Island Independent Buying Group/Country Grocer Group currently runs seven stores in Greater Victoria, Cobble Hill, Lake Cowichan, Nanaimo and on Salt Spring Island.
Founded in 1977, 49th Parallel Grocery’s four locations have a combined 80,000 square feet of retail space and employ more than 380 people.

Apparently you can buy weed on line through Shoppers Drug Mart now? I am so behind the times. Is weed even cool anymore?

I was just in Miami Beach, South Beach to be precise, and the stink of weed is so pervasive it drove us out of a restaurant.

You must not spend much time in downtown Victoria these days, or you'd be used to the stench.
