As far as car dealerships go, this thing is actually pretty good looking.

New dealerships generally are, because they're designing them to look more like stores and less like car dealerships. That's a good thing. But that's also why it bugs me so much that this place is so far from the sidewalk on the Douglas Street side.

It was designed by the Pattison Group's in-house architect.

Drove by last night. I'd say its open for business. The old toyota/lexus/used car buildings are all but empty, and most of the cars are at the new location. The top floor Toyota display wing thing was stocked and colour changing LED light show was going nuts.

Where do dealerships make money to support such massive capital investments?  The margin on new cars can't be that big.  Service departments?

Service and warranty claims as well as finance and lease commissions. Lexus and Toyota carry some of the biggest margins in the business in the range of 10-12%

Enjoyed the light show while driving home this evening. Looks like a nice dealership, guess it's time for a new car!

The light show is kind of tacky.  I stopped by Lexus to check out the new RC 350 F and I like the two level layout.  However, some of the finishing inside was a little disappointing like over-mount sink in the coffee area and some cheap $199 free standing beverage cooler, not even built in.

My wife was at the grand opening last night and reported that it was "awesome".  I asked her to take photos but I don't think she did... too busy having fun or something.

Now that the party is over maybe Jimmy would like to do something with his eyesore of a property in Vic West. Seriously, what neighborhood should have to put up with an unkempt car storage lot?

So we're hearing that the Metro pagoda was originally a Chinese food restaurant.

Maybe it can be turned into a 21st Century reincarnation of Jack Lee's Chinese Village. I still miss that place.

I agree, that lot is horrible.
